While I will never claim that Texas beat Auburn like a drum in 1983, the losses aren't comparable. If that 2011 game is played using the rules of 1983 (before conference championship games), Alabama-LSU ends in a 6-6 tie. Both teams would finish the season 12-0-1, SEC champions, and would also most likely split the national championship.

Auburn lost to Texas by two touchdowns.

That doesn't mean anything. 1994 Alabama was basically 1992 Alabama all-grown up. '92 Alabama won hardware. '94 Alabama did not.

The difference was the senior leadership that was on the two earlier teams. They were missing from 1994 Alabama and 2004 Georgia.

Well I guess that settles it.

2002 may have been a little better but it's close. 02 was a 4th and 15 against AU from not even playing for the SEC title. The only real difference in those two UGA teams is 02 UGA didn't have to play 04 AU otherwise they would have ended up the exact same.

Back to the OP though, there was a similar thread a while back where I showed that AU has one less perfect/undefeated seasons as the other four members not named Alabama combined.

I never said Texas deserved to win the NC, just that they were more deserving than Auburn.

Oh yea, your comment is still ignorant. It's like you forget hat losing late has always punished a team more than losing early.

It was 20 to zero in the 4th quarter with 1:34 left in the game.

As soon as Texas gives the 1983 title back to Auburn.

By SECrant standards I guess statistics and facts would be considered shite posting.... especially when it makes your team look bad!

No, actually I can just read and use the internet to look at rosters and see how the careers of players turned out... crazy, ain't it?

If you can look at the 2004 USC roster and the 2004 Auburn roster top to bottom and convince yourself that USC was more talented or deeper than Auburn in 2004 then you're the drunk one and holding on a little too hard to decade and a half old ESPN propaganda

The reason Auburn didn't get in the title game in 04' is because they played USC in a home and home series in 2002 and 2003 and lost both games. The 02 game was close but the 2003 game was a blow out at home. Voters didn't want to see an Auburn vs USC pt.3 so they gave OU a shot even though the 04 Auburn team had the better SOS and beat more ranked teams.

OU and USC were entrenched at #1 and #2 all year while Auburn started #19 in the polls.

If it were the old system Auburn could easily claim it as Bama does for 75% of their titles

Look up 1983 Auburn.

That team deserved the national championship and is why this thread sucks.

I may make a thread on the subject but the cliff notes are:

Auburn finishes regular season with the #1 SOS in the nation and ranked #3 behind two undefeated teams.

The two undefeated teams, #1 Nebraska and #2 Texas, both lose in their bowl games. #3 Auburn wins their bowl game against Michigan.

#5 Miami, who beat #1 Nebraska, and had a shitty resume compared to any of the teams mentioned above, jumps Auburn to win the national championship.

Zero chance you win against USC. They had just beat the brakes off of AU in back to back seasons. The nation didn't want to see three in three years.

Do you even know who the QB was for USC in 2002?

In fact, did you even watch the game?

In fact, who the frick cares about 2002 and 2003 football games when talking about 2004.
