I thought it was odd with tu and ou wanting to join the SEC. They have bad mouthed us for years. I have not considered this aspect once. Pieces of the puzzle are starting to come together. Just one more reason to despise ESPN.

Fox should get all TV rights for PAC and BIG…ESPN get SEC and ACC.
Two Super conferences with 2 16 team divisions in each.
Playoffs similar to NFL. Champ game rotates between a fox and ESPN

The Big 12’s argument in court might be something like this –
ESPN owes Texas $150M as part of their contract for the Longhorn Network
ESPN is hemorrhaging cash since the Longhorn Network has no viewership or carriers
In an attempt to boost revenue and end expenses associated with the Longhorn Network contract, ESPN works behind the scenes and orchestrates Texas and Oklahoma moving to the SEC, a conference that they have exclusive television rights with.
ESPN promises the SEC a large contract increase, resulting in a significant incentive to Texas and Oklahoma.
To make up for the loss of the Longhorn Network revenue to Texas and to offset the Big 12 exit fees, ESPN agrees to help break-up the Big 12. If there is no conference, there are no exit fees to pay.
To encourage the break-up of the Big 12, ESPN gives the conference the cold shoulder when asked about the prospect of a renewed contract if they replace Texas and Oklahoma and expand to 12 or 16 schools.
At the same time, ESPN approaches the AAC and encourages them to raid the remaining Big 12 schools with promises of financial incentives and a new contract.
As part of the facilitation of this, ESPN begins writing and broadcasting stories claiming the only reasonable option for the remaining Big 12 teams is to also jump ship. The uncertainty of the future begins to hurt recruiting and donations for the remaining Big 12 teams.
The AAC will be in direct competition for a P5 designation with a potential revised and expanded Big 12, so agrees to work with ESPN behind the scenes to destroy and raid their competitor.
The break up of the Big 12 also eliminates a large percentage of college football coverage for Fox Sports, hurting ESPN’s competitor.
In the end, ESPN has exclusive broadcasting rights to the new SEC super conference, cancels the money losing Longhorn Network, and takes the broadcasting rights of the remaining Big 12 teams away from their competitor, Fox Sports, since they are now members of the AAC.
What's the difference between this and say Chase and Citi Bank conspiring to eliminate Wells Fargo?

Brilliant analysis.
Interesting and smart that TU and OK reportedly made their SEC overture through a law firm.
Outside of ordinary X's and O's and personnel stories, I expect ESPN's writing about the "insider" aspects to this move to be greatly diminished in the year ahead.
The lawyers are going to make bank on this one.
