Mario had a foot out the door at the end of last year. He had us in the top 10 with probably the worst starting qb at Oregon in the last 30 years.
Maybe. but early in the season he got beaten by an inferior Stanford teams. It was later that Oregon got beaten twice by Utah, which admittedly had a pretty good team, but there is not guarantee that Oregon could have beaten Utah twice, so making the playoffs was going to be a long shot at best.
Again. I am not arguing the talent is not there. You have two of the best ILBs in the game. Your challenge this year will be replacing Thibidoux on the DLine.
quote:Lanning is a good recruiter. Talen won't be a problem. You have to hope Lanning can coach. It might be a bit of an uphill battle the first year or two while he learns on the job. We were pretty frustrated with Kirby his first year or two with some of the in game decisions he made.
Our class imploded when Cristobal left and Lanning just took it from 60ish to 13 with the addition of Conerly last week and Kyler Kasper today, who is reclassifying.
He also is working on a premier offensive tackle (portal) and can solidify the roster with another safety and corner in the portal.
quote:I agree 100%. He was an elite recruiter, but there seemed to be something missing when it came to game time.
He has to develop and scheme better than Mario. Honestly, Cristobal was average there.
I think most Georgia fans will be pulling for Lanning, and by extension, Oregon...except for our game next year, of course.

Moorehead, our playcaller, was rushed to the hospital on gameday against Stanford. Then it took one in thousand effort by Stanford to win that game. Of course, there is no excuse for the qb play on the field.
Last year was such a comedy of errors.

Also, Thibodeaux played very little.

2016 Iowa had George Kittle and Noah Fant. 2017 Iowa had Noah Fant and TJ Hokenson. 2010 ND had Tyler Eifert and Kyle Rudolph.

Best team of all time, So….
He asks for a group of TE's and you name one and he wasn't even drafted

Shockey and Winslow say hello
Now that is a solid point and at this point in time it's safe to say they were better but I'd like to see how UGA's TEs finish their career before closing the book on them.

Wow! had not heard that. Defintiely would have made a difference.

Bowers, as a freshman, had more yards and TDs than Pitts did as a Junior, and Pitts had Trask throwing to him while Bowers had Stetson Benentt.
Pitts played in 8 games while Bowers played in 14…

A comedy of errors. Yeah we do know all about that. Still laughing at Georgia Tech. And it’s been almost 5 months now.

Well, I was talking about our own. Over the years we've had our own share.

That’s pretty damn close, and he did it with a major shoulder injury, plus losing his starting QB.
Thanks for disproving your point for me.
Bowers did it with fewer targets per game and as an in-line blocker.

What position group is less important to an offense than TE

Just missed by a couple of years of Olsen being part of that U group.
