Depth on the DL is no where important as it's made out to be.
Yeah, tell that to your starters about the 4th quarter...

How can you think that DL depth is irrelevant?
DL depth isn't so important in EA Sports NCAA 2011 or 12 etc...
But in real life, 300 pound people get tired after beating on each other for 60+ plays.

When you don't have it.

You don't even have to look at the rosters to know that Alabama will have the best DL. No way USC, LSU or Florida has recruited better than Saban on the defensive line.

Our D line has the potential to dominate games at times this year, but that's all it is right now...potential. We have 2 returning starters who might be the least talented of the top 4
Our 3 deep at NT has a lot of potential:
John Jenkins -- a lot expected from highly coveted JUCO transfer
Kwame Geathers (RSO) -- performed well in '10 with limited duty, very strong spring
Mike Thornton (RSFR)-- pretty big recruit, redshirted
Tyson in his more natural position at DE, Abry Jones returning at DE. Derrick Lott, decent job in '10, and Garrison Smith backing them up.

This has to be the most in depth, intelligent analysis in this whole thread. It should get an anchor now because this an "end thread" kind of post here.

A lot has been said about the UGA line and how good it could be.
It looks good on paper.
It looks good on paper.

That's the problem right now. We'll see what we're made of after the first 2 games.

I would be weary of counting on MGCCC prospects too heavily. That JC has a history of putting out some overrated guys.

Don't really know anything about the JUCO, but I continue hear and read good things about Jenkins. I'm always a little guarded in my optimism when it comes to JUCOs.

And how'd all those blue chips along the defensive front work out for you last year when we met, hmmmmmmm?

Lots of teams look good on paper. UGA now has two big nose tackles -- which they hope gives them the personnel they need to run the 3-4. UF has recruited unbelievably well at D-line -- yet they were soft last year.
Time will tell. And while it's not impossible that one of these teams will have the best DL in the SEC, the proven commodities are USC, State and Arky. In preseason -- when these predictions are nothing more than educated guesses -- USC is the obvious number one.

Saban will be relying on JUCOs this year.
