Sanford is on my short list of must see stadiums in my life. I really want to see a game there, Tiger Stadium, Jordan Hare, Bryant-Denny, the swamp, the shoe and the Rose Bowl. I've already got tix the A&M game in Auburn next year so I'm getting started on my list

Just the facts. More premium seating overall means more money per seat per game, more chair back seats means more comfortable seating, seats closer to the field means better viewing.

TANGENT: I really don't understand how fans can say they had a bad experience at DWS. Our tailgating is a great time, your getting a sure win unless you're Ole Miss, and it's a fairly underrated atmosphere. Seriously, people hate the cowbells, but the stadium is electric when 55,000+ people are ringing them. It's only going to be louder next season.

DWS is really underrated. After the expansion is done it will be one of the best fan experiences anywhere.

There are no such things as facts in ranking stadiums. Everyone has their preference. And just as soon as the slightest shine on one stadium wears off, someone else is debuting their updated facility.

That may be a stretch, but at DWS unlike other stadiums the fans really feel like priority number 1. This is an opinion, but I like a smaller stadium. It makes it feel way more personal and makes the whole gameday experience something more than just a game.

Honestly this is probably the main reason. Oh, and your fans cannot follow directions with the cowbells. I swear when they would put up the silence your cowbell on the screen was when the cowbells would ring the loudest.

I went to the game in Starkville last year and had a good time. I plan on returning in 2015, but this time with ear plugs.

That's true Cowbells are one of those things that is cool only if you are part taking in the action. I always enjoy the Bama game cause it gives me the opportunity to see the best team in the country during some years. It'll be cool to tell my children one day that I got to witness y'alls run and some of the great players that made it happen

ETA: This year will be my first visit to BDS.

This stadium...is legit.

I normally don't buy into hype, but after going to a game there I can say the building during a big game has an aura that really can't be matched anywhere else (or at least anywhere I have been).

Facts don't exist when ranking a stadium. It's completely subjective. I think many times expensive chair back sections and suites can suck the life out of a stadium, reducing much of the rabid fan base that can't always afford those sections.
Meanwhile, corporate Joe Blow is on his cell phone oblivious to the game.

Looks like we'll be 'adding' some seats in the next couple years.

You mean remarking the bleachers and making the visiting fat asses more miserable? I'm all for it

Sure there are. Aside from subjective factors like bricks vs stucco, the structural details that add value to the stadium like premium seating, better sight lines, and more comfortable chair back seating all have value and can be quantified.

In Tiger Stadium's case, it just has more and better of each of those than the rest of the stadiums in the SEC except for Arkansas, which actually set the bar for how stadiums should be configured, and LSU expanded along the same lines.

And LSU is studying a plan to carve out more restrooms from the old dorms, which will just further improve the fan experience.

quote:

On what could happen to the old dorms in Tiger Stadium:

"It’s full of asbestos, so it all would have to be abated. The plumbing is shot. The electrical is shot. The ceilings are really low. It’s a really low ceiling, so aesthetically it limits what you can do. One of the things that we have the architect looking at now, and goes back to the fan experience, we have them looking into the possibility of creating more restroom space out of that dorm space, renovated space for particularly women’s restrooms. Women are really particular about that. So it we could create more restroom space, that would be a real advantage for us.”

Joe Alleva talks end zone expansion, beer sales, SEC Network at BR Press Club

Stadiums now have to offer compelling reasons for fans to leave the comfort of their living rooms and pay to attend games. Especially with the SEC Network due to debut soon.

Most of you will hate me for saying this, but Cowboy Stadium was a great place to watch a LSU game. Saw the Cotton Bowl in 2011. Video board is awesome, plus there was beer. Will never be as great as Tiger Stadium, but second, IMO. Worst stadium, no offence to Arky fans but War Memorial was horrible.

And yes, having all those things are nice, but they don't necessarily make it better.

If you don't let the facts get in the way, then sure.

More premium seating means more money per game for the athletic department. Better sight lines and more comfortable seats mean a better fan experience. And not just for the home fans.

Take a look at where visiting fans will sit in Tiger Stadium:

No where else will fans be just steps away from restrooms/concessions/stairs/elevators. No where.

Yes, it does mean more money for the AD, but it doesn't necessarily make the stadium better. Ask any baseball fan what stadiums are on their bucket lists. I guarantee you Fenway and Wrigley, with all their problems and quirks are on there. I bet you won't find the new Marlins ballpark on any.

Again, I'm not saying it's not nice, the new suites in Neyland are nice, but the average Vol fan will never sit there
