What about Fitzpatrick? Or would you consider him more of just a great playmaker.
We don't know what to think about him. Usually with a freshman, we just pray they don't screw up and give up a free touchdown. We're all just shocked at what he's done. Apparently that's still plenty of talent from New Jersey.

Kentrell Brothers has 91 tackles and 2 INTs.
Ragland has 59 tackles.
Both are great LBs, but Brothers has been more productive.

Ragland is, IMO, a better LB.
But Brothers is having a great year.

Didn't Maybin have like 20 tackles against Georgia or somebody? He's a beast for sure
21 against Oklahoma.
For the year he has 56 tckls, 8 TFL, and 3 sacks

I've got Reggie Ragland, and he might be the best defensive player in the country. Dude is a monster

Garrett did his best to get A&M back in the game yesterday. When it was 28-20, he had a huge sack and then a blocked punt. This whole narrative that he can't stop the run is crap. He may not be the best against the run but he isn't terrible either. He made several plays on running backs yesterday.

Not sure, but definitely not Rickey Jefferson.

ragland is the correct answer. fitzpatrick is by far the best freshman defensive player in the country though. his addition and the move of eddie jackson to safety has turned this secondary into a serious force. in the games since ole miss, the alabama secondary has scored more TDs than opposing WRs have scored on them. Every QB has been held to around 50% completion percentage (actually so was kelly, with half of his yardage and 2 of his 3 touchdowns coming on fluke and illegal plays). bama secondary is best in sec, bama LBs are best in sec, and bama's dline is best in sec

SEC DPOY?
Kentrell Brothers, hands down (don't shoot).

Alabama had more rushing yards in the first quarter than they had all game against arkansas...17 more to be exact

Maybe Bullard? He was the guy who was consistently in your backfield (a couple big TFLs-- he was the one who almost tackled Harris on a handoff) missed Fournette but you can't expect a 300 pounder to squared up to Fournette-- if he'd been run through that's one thing but juked-- well he's a big man. In the second half y'all got smarter and just ran away from him because again- big dude's not running down LF from behind.

Bullard has been terrific.
He's a 5th year- imagine if he, Fowler and Easley had broken out at the same time instead of being injured in such a way that basically only one at a time was at full strength- we're going to go 4 straight years with a first round DL barring injury (that Meyer 2010 DL--which didn't have Fowler to be clear- class was just as sick as everyone thought it turns out, just seems off since the #1 overall player in the country suffered 2 different major injuries and never lived up to what he could have been because of it).

Myles Garrett
If he could play the run he'd easily be the choice-- but he can't-- he's going to make a ton of money though, no one picks run stoppers in the first round-- he has the most valuable skill you can have.
I'll say this in defense of VH3-- its really hard to be the best defensive player in the country as a corner-- the best corner in America could go a whole game without his name being called.
