Best defensive line in the SEC?

Kind of a spin from the best secondary of all time thread.
I think this is a great question considering the plethora of great, defensive line talent we've had in the SEC. In your opinion, what was (some) of the best defensive lines in the SEC?

I submit for consideration 2003 LSU's defensive line.
Marcus Spears DE (drafted by Cowboys)
Chad Lavalais DT 2003 Defensive Player of the Year (drafted by Falcons)
Kyle Williams DT (drafted by Buffalo)
Marquise Hill DE (drafted by Patriots)
Melvin Oliver (drafted by San Francisco)
Kirston Pittman (first team freshmen all SEC and Honorable mention Freshmen All American)

That's difficult. I'll nominate 2003 LSU for the list, though I don't know that they're #1. 03 LSU had Lavalais, Spears, Williams and Hill as starters.

2003 LSU had the best "defense of" line

The 2003 LSU team definitely comes to mind. They were downright nasty. Big and physical.
I'm pretty sure Tennessee had some great defensive lines back in the day.
I'm sure Alabama has some great ones scattered in there.
South Carolina a couple of years ago with Clowney and Ingram.
Auburn had some greats (especially at the defensive end position).

Going with 1992 bama for a 3-4. Copeland and Curry off the edge and that fricker Brown at nose was just a huge stump that couldn't be moved much.
Of course the LBs on that team were great also. As well as the secondary.
For a 4-3, gonna go with 2003 LSU.
Overall, 2003 LSU.

2011 Gamecocks
Clowney, Ingram, Quarles, Devin Taylor and Travian Robertson all have/will make it to the NFL, including at least 2 first rounders, one with the #1 pick

Also, have to consider the 1987/1988 AU defensive lines.
Andrey Bruce, Tracy Rocker, Benji Roland, Ron Stallworth.
All of those guys were all americans or all SEC. Throw in two outland trophy winners, the lombardi, SEC player of the year and one of the best defenses in SEC history in 1988 for AU. Number 1 in total, rushing, and scoring defense. Top 10 in turnovers forced. Gave up 7 points per game.

DE- Brandon Deaderick (New England Patriots)
NG- Terrance Cody (Baltimore Ravens)
DE- Marcel Dareus (Buffalo Bills)

That AU line with Rocker & Roland were effing studs. I may remember Rocker as better than he may have been. But I remember him as just being an unblockable horse.
Question though: I remember Bruce as a LB. I'm guessing DE/LB like Derrick Thomas for Bama?

Yep. He played both OLB and DE in 1988.

What years did UT have both Albert Haynesworth and John Henderson on their line?

Here is some info on the all time great scoring defenses in the modern era (since the 1970's):
In the last 25 years, 1986 OU and 1988 AU gave up the least number of points in college football.
I think we are still talking 2003 LSU, 1992 Bama, and 1988 AU for the best Dlines the SEC has seen.
quote:
To find a team that gave up fewer points per game than this Alabama squad you have to go back to the 1988 Auburn squad that allowed just 7.67 points per game. The gold standard was set just two years prior to that when Oklahoma allowed 6.75 points per game - the only team in the last quarter century to permit less than a touchdown per game over the course of an entire season.
There are just five teams since 1986 to hold opponents under nine points a game and the last to do it was the 1991 Miami Hurricanes. Alabama's defensively oriented 1992 national championship squad was not quite to that lofty point, holding the competition to just 9.4 points per game.
Two other interesting teams that show up here. Nick Saban's 2003 National Champion LSU squad was tops that season permitting just 11 points per game and Mike Shula's 2005 Alabama team lead the country allowing just 10.7 points per game.

It takes at least a year to get a recruit two or three for some ,these are just a few of the lsu recruits that went pro in the 99 to 03 seasons which means that another coaches players turned sabin into the genius that espn is still using to recruit for sabin the non recruiter !
