Spinoff from the Hot Seat thread.

no one huge comes to mind. Rich Rodriguez has seen some success.

any old/new coaches that got the axe but still found success later?

keep this strictly CFB please...

Is it only fired from a CFB gig? If not, Pete Carroll was pretty good.

Ole Miss never should have fired him, and Tennessee was crazy for not hiring him.

Houston Nutt went took OleMiss to back-to-back Cotton Bowls after Arkansas fired him with a golden parachute payout. Of course he went on to later get fired from OM.

The coaches LSU fired never resurfaced and did much of anything

Dinardo short stint at Indiana
Archer career coordinator, a little surprised he never got another call unless he may have turned down some overtures along the way, probably would have done much better without pressure of LSU
Stovall, I don't really count considering the circumstances he got job under and he left the coaching career

Cutcliffe was the epitome of mediocre... and had he not benefited from the timing of Archie's son coming to Oxford, his record would have fallen from mediocre to "bad".

Technically, he wasn't fired by Miami. I don't think so anyway.

Tennessee wanted to hire him. He refused to interview for the job.

I was disappointed when we fired Cutcliffe. Just one bad season. He wasn't a great recruiter though. Having Pete Boone as AD didn't help the situation either.

I think his career at Duke says otherwise

This. People are stupid. We had Eli and basically nothing else. It showed when Eli left and we struggled to go 4-8.

He had horrible recruiters on his staff. We gave him a chance to stay but the condition was he had to hire a new staff. He refused to fire his buddies so we had no choice.

Future two time super bowl mvp quarterback on the roster and we didn't even go to a bowl game his junior season.
