Good player with one excellent skill(shotblocking) but nowhere near the best. Moultrie is a much better overall player than Varnado IMO

meh, I just always loved watching Varnado because of "Swatville". He also brought our progam in the terms of media attention to its height in a long time.

If Teddy Dupay doesn't gamble or be stupid, people probably talk about him like they do Chris Jackson

And if Sam Bowie doesn't play hobbled up for part of his college career it's not even close.

This one is always tough for me. But I gotta go old school Dan Issel.

The pool of guys I would think of from Alabama: Leon Douglas, Derrick McKey, Robert Horry, Latrell Sprewell, Antonio McDyess. Sure I'm forgetting someone.
Reggie King! 2 time sec player of the year. (78-79) alltime leading scorer for bama.

Roy Rogers and Jason Caffey. Bobby Lee Hurt had sooo much promise.

Yeah, another guy I never really saw, but another solid pick. I knew I would forget somebody.

I loved Roy Rogers, beast-mode in his senior year, but that's a bit of a stretch. Good Roy Rogers reference though, they don't come around all that often.

Apparently he's a scout for the Celtics now...the more you know.

I remember Caffey and Hurt. Monsters on the glass. It's a shame SEC basketball has slumped. Daddy Dale used to produce some of the most bizarre seasons here.

Older Kentucky fans can attest to that- you could predict who'd win the LSU-Kentucky games of the late 70's through early 90's by comparing talent. If LSU had better talent than Kentucky (and it happened a good bit), Kentucky would win. If Kentucky had better talent, LSU would win.

Roy is always my choice in the "fav player" threads, above Dunn and Askins.

Best player is McDyess, guy was a beast at both ends of the court and always played steady.
Honorable mention... Derrick McKey, if he would have been more aggressive he would be #1.
I don't consider Wallace anywhere near the top, many guys played much better while at Bama than he did.

Hurt had a nice career, along with Enis and Buc Johnson around that same time.

Nice moral victory for your 2nd tier basketball school.

Better than 3rd tier at everything, like Arkansas

We're top tier, just because we had a decade in basketball like LSU 90's football doesn't change that.

I can't remember the last time Arkansas was relevant in basketball. You are not top tier.

Wallace was a really talented, promising freshman for us. Nothing more. Rod Grizzard was the better player on that team, even if he looked like he was half asleep most of the time.

He's absolutely nowhere near one of our best players if you just go by what they did in their college career.

Rickey Frazier for Mizzou. Stipo and Sunvold got all the press but Frazier could ball. If he would not have went to SLU first then transferred he would have alot of records at Mizzou

I'd throw Anthony Peeler in there as well.
