How fast would he catch Hell for the Junction camp today?

That was brutal but it was effective.

Yea he would have been fired at A&M and never got another chance to coach again but the times were different then.

And if anyone thinks Bryant wasn’t a cheater please go read the book about the Junction Boys.

I’ve read it. Pretty sure that is how things were in the SWC. In fact it never stopped until the conference was disbanded. It was ok for Texas to buy players and not anyone else. Look at what happened when SMU started beating Texas.

I have no doubt that everyone was doing it but you can’t tell me he stopped doing it when he got to Bama. Every school cheats to get players. Was that way when he coached and is that way today. Anybody that thinks their program isn’t cheating is extremely naive.

He’d get run out football today thanks to all the sjw pusses. But Bear and Shug were definitely two true American badarses.

Bear was only 69 at his death? Dude looked like he was pushing 95. Would love to have seen what his liver looked like.

Indeed would be fun to bring back Bear, Shug, Neyland etc to the SEC

I highly doubt Bryant would have gone back in and changed out of those clothes. I saw him at a day game one year at Tiger Stadium and he was dressed about like that.

btw, I think he looked great dressed like that. Those were better times.

Guys from his generation just did everything different in my view. They worked hard, they lived hard.

I think of Dye as well. Those guys would tell it like it was and gave zero shits. They didn't hide that they drank hard and were hard men.

They did not need to be champions of life. They did not have to work on catchy slogans. They sure as shite would not have a sleepover at a recruit's house.

Bear was a hard drinking, hard working man. It took a toll on his body, but you would have never heard him crying about it...

A lot today's coaches aren't worthy to hold their beer.
