Being born in New Orleans and a graduate of LSU, I can only say that the person who put down BDS is full of crap. When I went to LSU, Bama played every home game at Legion Field. BDS was a very small stadium back in the seventies. I'll be honest and tell you what I really feel about this entire thread. I married a girl from a whole in the wall place in Alabama called Millerville. Since she owns a store in Wetumpka, I'm stuck here. First of all BDS makes Tiger Stadium look like a shite hole. What was a very small stadium, metamorphsed itself as one of the best looking and largest stadiums in the country. As far as culture goes, south La. has Alabama beat, but north La. is just like it is here in Al. In case some of you stupid posters don't realize, Mobile has restaurants that are on par with what you find in Baton Rouge. Mardi Gras originated in Mobile and New Orleans turned what was supposed to be a family oriented event into something that is X rated. People here have an accent like Jeff Foxworthy and the minute that I open my mouth up here the people correctly guess that I'm from New Orleans. Like they say, a native New Orleanlian sounds like a person from Boston. As far as hunting goes, Bama has La. beat by a mile when it comes to deer. Fishing and the rest of the outdoors definitely belongs to La. Most people that I know here go down to the La. coast to fish. Look people, both states have a lot to offer and I can honestly say that I was ashamed to be from New Orleans when the national media focused on the dregs of society in New Orleans. I honestly love both states but when it comes to crime, New Orleans is in a class by itself. Being ranked number one in crime in America doesn't surprise me one bit. I'll never forget that when I lived in New Orleans about twenty something years ago, a woman was raped in St. Dominicks Catholic Church on Harrison Blvd. in Lakeview.

If we called it Bear's Den, I'd be cool with that. Even goes along with BDS.
Won't work simply based on the fact that Coach Bryant himself LOATHED the Bear nickname while he was alive. The House of Champions sounds better but really, when you have a program with the history and tradition of Alabama, you don't need to come up with any nicknames. The great play on the field speak for themselves.

8 pages and only one damn real nickname. Bear's Den is actually cool. and the Bear is a big enough name for that to be legit... not that Saban would want that.
Black Warrior something could be cool...
maybe, The Tusk something maybe.. someone make a cool variation of those.

There's a reason places like Ohio Stadium, Michigan Stadium, DKR Memorial, Oklahoma-Memorial, and BDS are not usually mentioned among the "loudest".
I'm pretty sure Ohio Stadium and BDS are (I KNOW Ohio Stadium always is), but not the other three.

They certainly can be as loud as any in the country, but they're never mentioned among of the loudest because for generations, the fans of those programs have seen consistent winners. A festive atmosphere is there, but not to the degree of places like Tiger Stadium. While LSU has certainly created a championship image over the past decade, they were an underdog for the better part of a half century.

From a fricking gump? I could take Louisiana out and change it to Alabama and no one would think twice about it. Thats like a acne faced fatty calling another acne faced fatty, fat and ugly.

Throughout its history, the Crimson Tide owns a 225-46-3 all-time record at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Bama moved from playing home game in Birmingham to Tuscaloosa in 1988 and since that time LSU is 7-4 at BDS.

7-4 huh? That's pretty good. Until you compare it with our record in Baton Rouge, which is 24-8-2. Kinda pales in comparison, huh?

LOL. what are you trolling me on the boards. You truly are goofy ball. Everybody knows Alabama almost doubles LSU in wins in the series. Where you a live for most of the dominate part? Then what's it matter to you.

obviously to make the pulpwood nation feel right at home BDS should be nicknamed "The Double Wide"....

No, I am not a God Damned Independent. I just think Southern Tide is a bandwagon company trying to latch onto Vineyard Vines, Polo, and Brooks Brothers.

Ohhhhh. I see. So of the 4.8 million people in Louisiana, there is nobody living in the affluent neighborhoods, subdivisions and suburbs of New Orleans, Metairie, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Mandeville, Hammond, Covington, Alexandria, Shreveport, Monroe, etc.
Those just miraculously just don't exist.
They disappeared. Ok, gotcha.
BTW, there are infinitely more Americans of French-Acadian ancestry in Lafayette, Louisiana than in the whole state of Alabama, probably in the entire country.
Conversely, there are infinitely more Americans of Redneckian ancestry in Alabama than probably anywhere on the planet (not that there's anything wrong with that, there are people with sunburned necks in Alaska.)
