I thought that, but I don't buy it. We should be a top 10 team then. The computers have us as the 7th best team in the nation. Both polls have us as the 11th. How the hell are we not in the top 10?

Auburn- (11+11+7)/3= 9.66667

Oklahoma- (10+9+9)/3 = 9.33333

Mizzou- (9+10+8)/3= 9

There you go.

So do we but we also had to go to Texas. Ya'll got at least a neutral site game with Oklahoma state

OSU will ground pound Texas but anyone that says an SEC team has an easy schedule is stupid. That was my point.

Thanks Alahunter!

Coaches poll had us at #17 last week, so we made some ground up there. We are guaranteed two losses in front of us this week. It really doesn't mean much at the moment.....but it would have been nice to crack the top 10 this week.

Just keep winning. What's the difference between #10 and #11?
I mean really, Auburn did you guys think you'd be #11 at this point before the season?

Nope. I am thrilled with how the season has played out. "Top 10" sounds better than "just outside the top 10".

I do wish our guys could have the first quarter against LSU back.

People get way too riled up about the computers.

Since the BCS forumal was heavily altered following the 2003 season, the computers have NEVER made the difference.

The #1/#2 teams in the human polls have always gone to the title games.

The computer rankings are simply a "tiebreaker" just in case the human polls are razor thin close.

So you can basically ignore the computers completely unless the human polls are really close and they aren't.

This is the final year of the BCS anyway, so no point in bitching about it anyway. People bitched and they got rid of it. Now you'll have a committee to bitch about next year.

UCF won't get an auto bid if Fresno State or Northern Illinois finish ranked ahead of them and in the top 16.

So that's the really problem with UCF getting jobbed here. It actually does come down to the placement of the teams.

I have to look up the rules, but I'm pretty sure the BCS auto-bigs are set in stone. Louisville would not have been in the Sugar last year otherwise, they were #23 and NIU was #16 (or something close to those rankings).

I think NIU/Fresno would just take away one of the at-larges.

Actually you're right. They'll take an at-large bid, the difference being they HAVE to be ahead of an AQ conference champion to do so and be in the top 16. It doesn't replace the AQ though.

Phew.

Either way, still messed up.

Actually, that's not true either.

The rule is that a non-AQ conference champion ranked in the top 12 of the BCS gets an automatic bid...UNLESS an AQ champion is ranked below the top 16. In that case, the ranking requirement is top 16, not top 12.

There is no rule requiring at-large bids for non-AQ schools.

The only time there were two non-AQ schools in the BCS was when TCU was #4 in the BCS and Boise State was CHOSEN AS AN AT-LARGE by the Fiesta Bowl.

If you recall, the BCS that year was:

1 - Alabama vs. 2 - Texas
3 - Cincinnati vs. 5 - Florida
4 - TCU vs. 6 - Boise State
7 - Oregon vs. 8 - Oregon State
9 - Georgia Tech vs. 10 - Iowa

Two Pac 12 teams in the Top 5.

The only conference to do so.

Fair enough but the SEC has 6 teams in the top 15. Pac-12 has 2. What happened to having better depth than the SEC?

Just shows you how much the rest of the country wants to keep the SEC out of the championship. At this point no other team has a realistic shot of going if Alabama were to lose.
Yep, this must be the reason, because Auburn belongs at #2 or #3 right now.

The OU jump is fricking retarded though. They were at .4204 last week and #15.
What about this is hard to understand. They beat one of the undefeated teams, albeit not a very good one. You beat who this week?

Won't last through December.

When the final BCS poll comes out, you'll likely see at least 4 teams (Alabama, Auburn, Texas A&M, South Carolina) in the top 10 once again.
