I understand that shooting an uncontested 3 is the best shot over course of a game or season.
Next is a straight line rim drive.
Get to foul line.

BUT IF the guys you have are struggling from 3 point land, does the staff reassess the analytics and try to find the shots this team can make consistently.

This Alabama team is a tournament team, but the analytics from last year do not apply.

Last night was hard to watch. 3 of 30 from 3 point land?

Will Oats reconsider the analytics?

Analytics say that even after last nights near historically bad performance, we’re still ranked in the Top 20 of offensive efficiency in the entire country.

We just need those shots to fall. And last night, we weren’t making layups and the 3’s were bricks all night. Bad combo.

They’re 325th for the year at .305. It’s amazing they’re as efficient as they are with that type of 3 point shooting.

I think the problem is that he has a roster that isnt suited to this style of play. Thats obviously on the Oats at this point. He needs to change his recruiting strategy.

Bama has some really good players. I just don’t know if sticking with the system no matter what will work some nights.

I know this is modern basketball and when it works it’s great. I often wonder why so many Auburn possessions do not touch the paint.

I guess when shots are falling, every system works better.

Well yeah.

Something to keep in mind is that Alabama played the #5 team yesterday. It isn't like they shot poorly and lost so some middle of the road team.

bullshite!
With only Petty gone as a 3-point shooter, the roster offensively should be as good or better than last year!
Teams are doing a better job of taking away the open 3s, and making Alabama take quick, often contested 3s. As with ANY sport you've got to show your opponent that you're capable of hitting mid and short range jumpers, or getting to the rim successfully so they'll be forced to make adjustments.

I realize that Kentucky is great.

I think they are in the mix for the national championship.

I also think Alabama can be an extremely tough out for somebody in the tournament, but they have stretches where their performance lags their talent(as do all teams).

They don’t really have a Plan B. Their big guys are not very athletic and can’t score when they need to. Do or die by the 3-ball for Bama just like we had in 2019.

Not really. Bama’s defense has been more of a factor in W/Ls than 3 point shooting this year.

More like, die if you shoot 10% from 3 and 30% from 2.

Bama has won games on bad shooting nights. Hell, they would have won last night just shooting 23% from 3.
