It's not that the thought they wouldn't get caught, it's that they knew if they were caught the NCAA wouldn't do anything.

They were pulling in all these 5 star athletes in one of the most historically racist colleges during one of the worst race relations era after decades of winning absolutely nothing, of course they were cheating.
