It sure would be nice if the teams at the top of the PR would continue to win, while the teams on the bottom continue to lose. Alas, things in the SEC are never that clear-cut. Last week's Top 4 (SC, Vandy, MSU, and UF) all lost their series this week. Is it time to dethrone the Cocks? How do you think the baseball teams stack up now?

If you want to contribute to this week's Baseball Power Rankings, submit your 1-14 ranking of the SEC teams here or email it to me (email is in my profile). We will randomly pick 2 rankings out of all the reasonable ones submitted. Voting closes at the end of Monday, and the winners will be announced in the Baseball Power Rankings thread on Tuesday

Here are some suggestions that we give to the regular voters:
quote:

We aren't going to tie your hands with a "formula" but we encourage you to use some of the following: the past week's results, team momentum/trend, conference record, rankings (RPI, SOS, CBN, Coaches, NPI, etc), team stats, OOC record, overall record, eye-test. We trust that you're able to form your own combo of these elements without our guidance, but we would like you to emphasize what a team has most recently accomplished.

Week 3 PR (for those that are a little dull, this is LAST WEEK'S Power Rankings)
1) South Carolina
2) Vanderbilt
3) Mississippi State
4) Florida
5) Alabama
6) Kentucky
7) Ole Miss
8) LSU
9) Auburn
10) Tennessee
11) Arkansas
12) Texas A&M
13) Georgia
14) Missouri

south carolina looks just as good/mediocre as everyone else i've seen. Yet everyone defaults them at #1. Interesting.

It's still early. We are about to find out a lot. Is Alabama for real? The upcoming schedule gets tough in a few weeks.

The top 5-7 teams could be sitting at #1 at the end of the year. My thing is, if you don't think USCe is #1, I'd love to hear why. I'm not saying I disagree, I just don't think an argument can be made right now to bump them off the # 1 spot. OM could've made that easier had they taken another one from them that weekend in Colombia.

they have an argument but other teams do as well. Picking them #1 is fine, im just surprised every single person has so far.

This is the big question to me so far this year. I'm so used to Alabama sucking at baseball that I'm having a hard time believing they are actually for real. Winning on the road this weekend was big, but ULL shows that Bama struggles against good pitching. Handing it to Ole Miss at home was big too. Bama's last four weekends are brutal (South Carolina, UF, LSU, and Miss. State), so that will tell us a lot.

The Bama fans posting about baseball are the ones that have been since start of season. When did Arkansas fans start caring...4 years ago?

fwiw, more Bama fans volunteered to be voters in the PR than most of the other schools. Bama does have the largest fanbase on here (outside of ULSU), but several of them have followed Bama baseball for quite a while now.

I traveled to Fayetteville for our series. I still see several games a year after moving away from Tuscaloosa. So don't tell me how I'm "suddenly" caring.

Alabama has one of the better histories of any program in the SEC, only outpaced by LSU, Miss State, and now South Carolina. We have just been very inconsistent since 2006.
