Lemonis has been in starkville 3 full seasons. 1 NC , 1 SECW crown and 2 CWS trips.

As soon as the talent he inherited ran out, he had a last place finish.

i am inclined to agree with you, but everyone has down years, so i am in wait-and-see mode. we had a lot of injuries, so if he has no urgency in building the roster back, he will be a failure, but im not willing to go that far just yet. season just ended.

1. Skip Bertman
2. Ray Tanner
3. Tim Corbin

Don't think you can argue the Top 3 quite honestly

Seems you are forgetting about Bertman's mentor, Ron Frazier. What about Augie Garrido.

You'll know who they are?

Mike Martin has to be mentioned.

5. Lemonis - can a terribly disappointing season cancel out a natty? No, but it drops him down my list a little.

Maybe, but even with a down 2022 season, Lemonis still has a better winning percentage at State than DVH at Arkansas, Bianco at OM, and O'Sullivan at Florida. He's just behind Corbin's winning percentage at Vandy.

Same number of national championships as O'Sullivan and Bianco. More than DVH.

Bertman and Corbs both played 5 card stud with 8 cards.

Bertman coached when only msu cared about baseball and used TOPS to load teams, it was smart.

This is just downright wrong. The version of TOPS that made it more available for helping sports like baseball didn't happen until legislation in 1997. Even the original TOPS program that was limited to the most needy didn't get legislated until 1989. Basically it didn't exist until the 90s and was neutered for most of the 90s.

Not to mention that Bertman had to go out of state for most LSU talent in the 80s and early 90s while he worked to get youth and HS baseball taken more seriously in Louisiana. TOPS doesn't help out of state kids.

Bertman took over at LSU in 1984, a program that was left to die. He got LSU to the regionals in his 2nd year and Omaha his 3rd. That's unreal.

Trying to find any kind of advantage for Bertman compared to Corbin's is just stupid.

Tim Corbin has only finished in the top 8 five times in 20 yrs. Despite buying the best talent.

Unless and until Candy discloses and defines economic need and academic rigor to qualify NO one not affiliated with Candy will validate as anything other than BS to buy a team. The number 1 recruiting class 4 of ever 5 years has won on talent alone.

If Corbs could coach his trophy case would look like Saban's

What's also amazing is that Kevin O'Sullivan got UF to the CWS in year 3 and again in 4, and 5.

Sully is a good coach for sure, but Florida had already established some baseball success prior to his arrival. I know they went to Omaha several times in the 90s with more than 1 coach.

Right I mean who could forget what they all did for SEC baseball. Rod Dedeaux as well, he changed this conference well before anyone.

I've been rather disappointed in Sully since 2018.

Lemonis will be fine. State fans overreacted a bit this year but he’s a really good coach.
