Not 2007. Saban was coach. We knew the programs were about to head in opposite trajectories.

That looks like a 45 though.

losing five straight games while the other team wins 2 national titles is much different than losing 5 straight games while the other wins 3 national titles? I mean it's really not much different at all, but sure

I normally hate the design of championship rings but those are some really nice looking rings.

Well, actually it is different in one pretty significant way.
During the timeframe you mentioned (except for 2005), we knew we sucked again well before November rolled around.

oh we did? we knew that in 2007? is that why Miles won 2 of the next 4 games against Saban after the 2007 game, each coach winning one conference title? or did the actual "opposite trajectory" take several more years?

And it wasn't our former coach emasculating us year after year after year. But other than that it was exactly the same.

I don't care foe it.

Our 1941 Championship ring can be viewed in the top right.
So you're saying anyone can go to Wal-Mart and have a "Championship Ring" made?

Well, it's different because the coach during 4 of those 5 games was Mike Shula and our new coach was Nick Saban.
I didn't think we'd blast LSU out of the water, but I had a pretty good feeling that the status quo would not be continuing. I surely didn't anticipate this sort of run, but I thought we'd be competing at the top of the SEC pretty quickly and have the same caliber of athletes as LSU.
To contrast, at the end of 2006 (4 years and 1 national title w/ Mike Shula) I had none of those expectations.

Yeah that 1941 Championship was Mississippi State's.

Very different. For the most part, those team buses and a couple before them for Bama never had wheels. A bunch of broken down short buses up on blocks. The occasional surprise was welcomed and hoped for, but not expected.

We were losing 5 straight games to every halfway decent team we played during that period.

Bama fans knew it. LSU fans were in their typical state of pie in the sky denial, claiming they'd rather have Miles than Saban. Even saw some comparing Miles to Bear Bryant.
But we knew.
