Are you telling us a state that has been known for decades as one of the most corrupt political systems in the country is above having a rich white kid's daddy pay their attorney to "take care" of drug charges?
I'm telling you and anyone else playing the race card and saying this is specific to white kids are mistaken. Green can get any color off the hook. And I have seen plenty of rich white kids pay the full sentence.

In Louisiana it's very unlikely that possession of a stolen firearm will get pled down.

I think there is a better chance he does not see any major repercussions at Bama than his stock in the NFL not being already affected. Not saying he won't be drafted but for an NFL team it is purely an investment. A guy driving around with drugs and stolen guns is a risky proposition. Worth taking? Maybe, but not with the top picks.

Based on what? I've heard from multiple lawyers that as a first time youthful offender status with a class C felony, pleading down is exactly the most likely scenario.

Sooooo kicked off at Alabama for charges. Comes back to Louisiana and charges are dropped. LSU allowed to file waiver since the reason he was ineligible at Bama no longer applies and NCAA let's him play immediately. LSU team votes to forgive past differences.
Robinson to LSU a done deal obviously.

Tider this ain't bama brother. Why would he do this. He is an Lsu alum and season ticket holder and gets no benefit from helping your boys. The REC pressure doesn't mean shite to him. It is in all the papers and would make him look soft on crime. He has zero and I mean zero reason to offer a quick plea. I am not saying it will not end in a plea deal but I am saying it will unlikely be a quick plea more likely on eve of trial. Since we have judicial conferences, the bar retreat in Destin, vacations etc very few trials happen in the Summer so trial is likely to be in the fall. If he submits to grand jury for indictment October - December. This was same problem Lsu faced with its starting QB charged in a bar fight in Baton Rouge if u remember. If they didn't move shite for him WTF would they do this for these traitous gump bastards.
I would suggest getting the back up ready for the whole season

There is no such thing as a class C felony in Louisiana. Regardless Louisiana has notoriously though sentencing laws. Good luck to both of them but there will be no pleading down imo.

Tut, you may be right about dragging it out before a plea deal. The point is that it will likely get plead down. When that takes place is key, obviously. The REC has their work cut out for them here, but they've come through tough odds before.

You could be right, but multiple lawyers that have weighed in disagree with you. Like the other poster said, the timing of the plea will determine if he plays or when. Heck, we don't even know all the details...Its possible some of this stuff could be tossed out entirely as facts become clear. For example, what if Hootie comes forward and says both guns in the car were his for example? What then? What if the guy in AL who reported it stolen, says it was a misunderstanding and he loaned it to a friend who knew Cam? There are so many scenarios that could unfold that it's impossible to really know how this will play out.

Hootie would have to be a real idiot. Perhaps he would be receiving legal advice from these "multiple lawyers" you keep referring to. Regardless given the facts as we know them, the guns weren't his because they were stolen.

The guy in AL would go to jail along with Cam and Hootie.

From their standpoint, it would be wonderful if that is true because unless they gave consent (which is possible since they were probably high) you just described an illegal search and every single charge is about to go bye-bye.
You are the biggest dumbass I have seen in this thread. The cop smelling weed or anything he thought was weed gives him automatic probable cause, not to even mention the fact that he saw the fricking gun sitting in Hootie's lap.

Would he really? Bail out a friend who is about to be a multi millionaire isn't always a terrible idea. And only one of the guns was stolen. I'm just saying, these things have a way of shaking out, and HOOTIE could easily chose to take the heat now for a reward later from his rich friend if he chose to. Legally, I think there's nothing the DA could do to prove HOOTIE didn't have both guns if he took responsibility for them. It's just an example of something that could happen, not saying Hootie will take the fall for him for a cut of his signing bonus.
And nobody is going to jail over this. Both, first time youthful offenders and if the guy in AL changed his story nothing would happen to him either. People make mistakes all the time, not a crime and stupid to suggest it is.

I see people go to jail for far less in this state everyday. Good luck to both of them.

I very seriously doubt that. Just read an article that described this particular DA as being very sensitive to putting felonies on people's records and that he has a history of pleading down or dismissing charges like this frequently. So your opinions on this seem to be rooted in your hopes rather than all the evidence out there.

Tider I am never one to doubt power of REC, but they better get to work here. Cars for everyone in DA's family maybe. LOL. Apparently that works in Monroe, did for Cam. (wink)
I am just saying he could just not do him any favors and he will likely be out for the Fall. Saban must be pulling his hair out on this one. How can they be this stupid, to go park a car in high drug traffic area at 3 am and get high, with weapons. I mean WTF? If they were not Louisiana kids you bought from us you would have my complete sympathy as caould happen to anyone. But kids willing to accept cars, get paid etc, and ditch their local school are showing real signs of their true character whether u want to admit it or not.
When we get a kid from Bama I am immediately suspicious that he is a bad apple too, yall didn't really want him etc. Occasionally you get kid that wants to get away but to go to arch rival is just a eat shite move.

Yeah, they'll plead down. Non-violent crime, first time offenders.

Most sane people don't allow petty things like school allegiance to factor into decisions that have life-altering consequences.
