Somebody forgot to tell those boys that the Tuscaloosa Police Department jurisdiction only runs to the Mississippi line.

or don't be AA and smoke dope in a park parking lot north of Washington street

That would be really bad, considering Cam Rob's charges are more severe than Hootie's.

Yeah but Cam's draft status is greater than Hootie's. #theprocess

It's not just Saban, this is big business. Shall we rehash some of Auburn's dirty laundry? Nobody--outside of maybe Mark Richt--has moral high ground here. Especially not your team.

You won't catch me sticking my head out of this glass house. Hell - how many chances did Miles give Ryan Perrilloux?

It is a business, and any coach who doesnt look at it that way is fricked.

I guess when you're the HC at Alabama you can make that call. Saban will handle this one. He took Pettway back after a robbery charge and not the other players involved. Why? Pettway was an asset. Let's stop pretending CFB is little league soccer.

Pettway wasn't even close to the best athlete of the ones involved.

Does anyone know what Alabama school policy is towards students if this does turn into a felony charge?
Youthful first time offender status, odds this doesn't get reduced would be very slim.

I didn't like the Jonathan Taylor thing either, he ended up gone pretty quickly.

But i just don't see how the DJ Pettway thing is a controversy given how it all played out.

Being charged with a felony almost always means immediate indefinite suspension, guilty or innocent.

Problem is they can't be reinstated until the charges are dropped or they're indicted on a lesser charge. This is similar to what happened to Jordan Jefferson in 11', he was charged with a felony in the last week of spring practice and suspended for months. A grand jury refused to indict on felony charges sometime around mid-season and he was reinstated with a slap on the wrist for the lower misdemeanor assault. Entirely up to the court how long the process will take.

Agreed. I don't have a problem with the immediate indefinite suspension part. There should be SOME consequences for putting yourself in a questionable situation in the first place.

Jefferson's a very good example of why take the attitude I do. If mob justice had ruled the day, he would have lost his career and probably his chance at an education over a crime he didn't commit and that's just not right.

Interesting angle that they may be homosexuals. Not that it matters. Everyone knew Michael Sam was just the first player to "come out"

Robinson is a top 5 pick even after this. He's an incredible talent. 10 yr left tackle starter/ franchise baby!

I am honestly not that surprised Hootie was involved in something like this, but Cam Robinson seemed like a semi-intelligent kid who kept his nose out of trouble.

Even if Cam leaves Bama, a school like McNeese or something will welcome him with open arms and he'll still be drafted, albeit not as high.

Damn shame for these kids though. What a stupid thing to do all around. It's not hard or very expensive to get a legal gun and smoke pot in private residence, not your car in a public park.

They'll sit out for the Western Kentucky game. That'll teach 'em!

I don't care about the drug part unless they were dealing. The guns I have a huuuuuuuuuuuuge problem with.

The thing is I believe it's a felony to be in possession of firearms and controlled substances at the same time - even if the guns were otherwise legal.

Legal guns + illegal drugs = felony.

Stolen guns + illegal drugs + Louisiana + Alabama football players = doesn't look good.

Only because something else popped up (even if it ended up not being a thing).

The Pettway thing was the least of my issues. He was sent away, did his time at JuCo and returned and was by all accounts a good kid who made up for his involvement.

The Geno Smith/Dillon Lee stuff is pretty ridiculous. DUIs are serious and Geno got 2. He should have been gone, or at the very least suspended for a while. He started the first game.

Really? Pettway in on an NFL roster...where are the other 3? At your local Burger King. He was by far the best and most needed. Cam won't be kicked off unless the U forces Saban's hand. He will get a 4 game suspension or something and move on and make millions. Stinks, but that's how things things play out more times than not.

Pettway incident happened literally on campus. Robinson and Jones are far, far, away from the Tuscaloosa "justice" system.

Others have mentioned things like this - why? Curious - has he gotten in trouble before?

Need to spin it - We are ghey and needed guns to protect us from the redneck hicks if they caught us getting it on in the park. Louisiana isn't supportive of our rights!!!

Ya I know, i was just saying that would be a more effective argument for the masses as opposed to DJ Pettway/Eddie Williams/Brent Calloway/ 4th person whose name escapes me, which I felt was handled pretty reasonably given that 3/4 were gone forever and the 4th went to JUCO and was able to work his way back.

Because Eddie Williams pleaded guilty to felony assault and was on 5 years probation.

He was as talented as anyone in his recruiting class. He wasn't allowed back by the University, the law or the coaches.
