(2) It shall be an affirmative defense to a prosecution for a violation of this Section that the offender had no knowledge that the firearm was the subject of any form of misappropriation.
This should be easy enough to prove. Money talks. I think Cam gets back in that big black truck of his and drives back to bama with a slap on the wrist.

Gonna have to get somebody to snitch or gonna have to have already been an investigation into the stolen gun.
Not an easy case to prove.

These are times I'm glad I don't work for Saban. He must be spitting nails at everything and everyone right now over this and rightfully so. In one horrible night of bad decisions and selfishness he's put many people in bad spots, none more so than himself. Sad.

I feel like Bama was due for some shite like this. It had been awhile since one of our guys did something incredibly dumb. Sucks that it was one of our five best players.
Well, this is just my opinion, but the luck is primarily in not getting caught vs. not being dumb in the first place.
Especially when the students are out of school and away from campus. Face it, with so many athletes on scholarship, combined with some of the rough environments these kids have grown up in, it should not be shocking when this kind of thing happens.
There are no winners here though. All we have is two kids who have hurt their future. And again, anyone taking too much pleasure in this will probably feel the same sting when a player for their school is caught doing something equally stupid.

2006 Louisiana Laws - RS 14:69.1 — Illegal possession of stolen firearms
§69.1. Illegal possession of stolen firearms
A. Illegal possession of stolen firearms is the intentional possessing, procuring, receiving, or concealing of a firearm which has been the subject of any robbery or theft under circumstances which indicate that the offender knew or should have known that the firearm was the subject of a robbery or theft.
B. Whoever commits the crime of illegal possession of firearms shall be punished as follows:
(1) For a first offense, the penalty shall be imprisonment, with or without hard labor, for not less than one year nor more than five years.
(2) For second and subsequent offenses, the penalty shall be imprisonment, with or without hard labor, for not less than two years nor more than ten years.
Acts 2000, 1st Ex. Sess., No. 116, §1; Acts 2001, No. 403, §1, eff. June 15, 2001.
Am I reading the bolded part right?
The offender has to intentionally be possessing the stolen firearm and knows the the firearm was the stolen for this charge to stick?

Boosie got 8 years for a pistol and 2 blunts. Louisiana don't play.
Prayers sent if the judge is an LSU fan.

EVERYONE cares about what Bama does.
Not exactly. It's just hilarious to see Bama players get in trouble after seeing the arrogance of their fanbase on here acting like you are perfect.

Arresting Cam Robinson is the biggest win Louisiana's had over Alabama since 2011.
Ouch - that one stings a bit.
It's certainly a true statement but it was a low hanging fruit joke. Zero points. It's the joke your unfunny friend makes and you chuckle at it just because you feel bad.

All of this doesnt' matter. I doubt he serves any time. He's gonna get drafted regardless. Sit out a year/save his body/train.

Is that a real thing? I don't think that is a real thing.

Is Hurts the favorite for qb now? I certainly think he is the best suited to running for his life.

There's no way I see him serving jail time but there is probably a very very good chance he's off the team. The bad PR and negative recruiting may not be worth one year of Cam.
Agreed.
Also, he can't dismiss Hootie only seeing that he has the lesser charges. If he dismisses him, Cam has to be gone as well.
Saban is in the unenviable position of having to decide whether keeping both, essentially to keep just Cam, is worth the media shitstorm that will likely follow.
