Yeah the loss is whatever. We've seen LSU lose games on the road in the SEC against lesser teams than ole miss. The loss of Trey'Dez is a much bigger problem. I always saw Dae'Quan Wright as an insurance policy more than anything. A redundancy. It's a shame he wasn't allowed to play.

What Colin doesn't acknowledge here is that for whatever reason, players love Lane and his schtick. He's one of the last celebrity coaches and kids want to play for him. So I'm good with it.

Curb stomped? Really? Most of the top 25? I understand that week 10 is different than week one but I don't care what time of year it is, I don't see many teams curb stomping that LSU team we saw last week.
I'm sure there are going to plenty of carries for everyone. This was a statement game and Lane thought that Dilin Jones gave him the best chance to make that statement. Hard to argue with the results.
It's hard for me to even really have a feel for what Durham and Berry are at this point. No RB was going look great under BK. That scheme was so broken. RBS getting blown up in the backfield, Gotta make a few guys miss to get 4 yards. Durham and Berry aren't great tackle breakers so that didn't help.

That atmosphere was 1 of 1. When LSU is rolling nighttime in Death Valley is peak cfb. When LSU has that atmosphere it's one of the greatest home field advantages in all of sports.
But do most of these kids give a rip about that these days? It seems like it would be like, "Yeah the atmosphere was crazy and I'd love to be a part of that. But this other team if offering a few million more than ya'll. Can you match their offer?"

Would you rather see a team and coaching staff that has no pride? How many great teams has LSU had that didn't have pride and ego? Now it's called swag but all great teams have it.
When it comes to HCs, they all have big egos. Name the great HC's that had no ego? Saban has a massive ego. Tom Osborne had an ego. Joe Paterno. Steve Spurrier. Bobby Bowden. Hell there are HCs who have never done anything like Gundy at OK State who have huge egos. Some might come across as more humble and less slimy but they all have egos.

Yeah it's all going to come down to the O line. If the O line can't hold up for deep balls and/or move people in the run game? then they just got another big target for the short passing game. Dink and dunk and work the seams.
We've seen Lane Kiffin do a lot with a lot less. I'm just going to trust the process for now. Embrace the dark side and enjoy the ride. It should be entertaining no matter what. Can't be more boring than last year.

Oh for Pete's sake kid, just own it and apologize. Move on. This doesn't have to be the end of the relationship with LSU. I've seen some dumb stuff but this is one of the worst self owns I've seen. Unreal.

I'm not saying this is one of the five best teams but they were one of my favorite. A 9-3 team that finished ranked 13th in the AP probably shouldn't be mentioned alongside these truly great teams but 1997 will always hold a special place for me. That was the first year where the light came on for me and I caught a glimpse of what LSU could be. That was such a fun team to watch. 2001 was also so much fun. Watching LSU win the SEC Championship was everything.
Obviously 2019. Best team to ever do it but the 2010 & 2011 teams were so loaded it's absurd. Those backfields and secondaries were insane.

This looks like a joke headline. I had to read it twice to make sure I could believe my eyes. This might the be the pinnacle of entitlement. Taking legal action against your alma mater because a player is wearing the number you used to wear. Unreal. What a silly idea.
I'm trying to think of the players I've watched in my lifetime that were so great they should have the jerseys retired. I can only think of a few.

If you win a Heisman and a national championship then yeah, you should get a statue. That means you are an absolute legend and you should be honored for all time. I have no problem with retiring numbers when it comes to such legends. If they retire #9 then how can you argue against it?
The problem is that we're talking about some super rad numbers. 20, 9, and 5 are legit. IT's not like we're talking about some wack numbers like 14 or 19 or 48 or 29.

I understand and I agree. This is the new reality. You can have the best relationship in the world but if Texas offers a kid 1.5 million more then what is the kid supposed to do? Turn down even more life changing money because they really like a coach? The highest bidder > greatest recruiter on earth.
But having said that, Coach O is one of the biggest personalities in sports. Most coaches in college football aren't household names. You couldn't pick most head coaches out of lineup to save your life. So to have someone of Coach O's stature out there representing LSU and making moves, that's not going to hurt. Coach O was one of the best in the business back when you had to pay players under the table. I'm sure he'll do fine now that he can openly make things happen for these players.
If the money is close and Lane Kiffin and Coach O are telling you that they need you in Baton Rouge, I like our chances.

Just wait until the big conferences part ways with the NCAA. Players will stay in college their entire careers. They might not even have to attend classes. Just a straight up pro league. It's already crazy but it's going to worse.

Neither one of those games ended like that. Ed Reed did make one of the best plays you'll see to secure victory against BC but it wasn't in the endzone. At least that one is sort of like your dramatic retelling. The Va Tech scenario you described isn't even close.
Most national champions have a bit of luck through a season. Most have close calls including this mighty Indiana team. They had close calls against Penn State, Iowa, Oregon, Ohio State, and Miami. If Carson Beck doesn't go full Carson Beck and throw the ball straight to a defender we're not having this conversation.

Both of those guys played that year. Including the championship. They didn't get many carries because Portis and Andre Johnson were busy going buck wild.

It can't be that '19 LSU was a great team and '01 Miami was a great team as well. It has to be my team is the only great team to ever exist and every other team would melt if they stepped on the same field.
I'm not trying to hype up the damn Miami Hurricanes. I don't even like the canes. But I watched those early '00s teams and I hate to break up the party but they were unbelievable. As were the Reggie Bush USC, Tommy Frazier Nebraska, Vince Young Texas teams.

You combine that talent with a defense made up almost exclusively of NFL talent and yeah, you get an all time great team. I think they are one of a handful of teams that could go toe to toe with 2019 LSU. If some random 2019 Auburn defense could keep it close then I'm sure '01 Miami would put up a fight.
Sometimes it's quality over quantity. This year Kiffin was able to achieve quality and quantity. Obviously bringing in 40+ players is insane but then to have the #1 QB, #1 LT, and the #1 Edge? This is unprecedented.

If he doesn't come to LSU it isn't going to be for a lack of trying. I can live with it. It's just good to see that hunger back. Lane has the eye of the tiger and I'm here for it.

What a weapon for Baker. This is going to be fun to watch. I'm so grateful to have a HC that is going balls to the wall to bring in as much talent as humanly possible. And of course I'm grateful to all of the friends of the program that put up the money to get that talent.

No offense to Indiana but comparing them to '19 LSU is absurd. Forget about '19 LSU, just look at the schedule from that year and there's three or four teams that would give Indiana problems. Hell if garbage Penn State almost beat them then I'm sure 2019 Clemson, UGA, OU, and bama would be a handful.
2019 was a much stronger year in terms of the top teams and LSU had to beat 6 of the top 13 teams in the final rankings. Indiana had to beat Ohio State and that's about it. They didn't have to run a gauntlet like '19 LSU.
