In spite of all the trash talking going on this week, I'd be willing to bet that every fan of both schools believes deep down that this is THE game, and that their team could lose this one. I expect to lose another year of my life when Bama tees it up in Baton Rouge.

The average spread in the last ten years for games played in Tiger stadium, is a whopping 5.4 points. Bama has been on the winning side of those games, but it sure ain't been easy.

I expect this game to be no different. Both teams will come to play, and neither will back down.

So good luck LSU fans, hope we get to see a classic.

Does not compute.

It’s a game we need to win. Nothing more, nothing less. They haven’t been competitive with Bama for 7 years now, so there’s not even a sense of exhilaration anymore. Just curiosity about the margin of victory.

Im not saying we win, but I do think we make Bama sweat for the first time this season.

Judging by this week, LSU is Bama’s Rival. No one gets Bama more riled up than LSU.

Well said. LSU may not be the historical rival that UT is but for most of the last 12 years, this rivals the Iron Bowl as far as importance.

It sure appears that LSU fans think it is. They are beyond obsessed with Bama. Reminds me of the Vols during the late 80’s and early 90’s.

Your own school's hype video for the game calls it "the greatest rivalry in college football". I actually don't think it is, but your denial makes you look skeered.

LSU has been one of our biggest tests for a while. That doesn't make a rivalry. It takes generations of hatred. I'm not sure a single Bama/LSU game, before Saban, stands out in my mind at all.

Keep it up another 30 years, and maybe.

Probably the most comfortable I’ve ever felt with Bama about to play LSU.

Just looking at the advanced metrics there are mismatches all over that LSU is in way over their head. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen such large advantageous differences for Bama.

Comparing the offensive and defensive lines, this is a terrible match up for LSU. The lone advantage LSU has lies in defensive power success rate against Bama’s offensive power success rate, but with White out for a half that could be an issue for them.

These metrics also factor in SOS and eliminate garbage time, so citing who they’ve played is irrelevant since that’s already been applied. This could get ugly fast.

I don't see how its not a rivalry. Both teams have been ranked in like 13 of the past 14 meetings. They played in a national championship game and the winner has won the West 9 times since 2005. I bet upwards of 90% of Saban-era players consider it a rivalry

I don't get this narrative. I think LSU fan's are more obsessed with the idea that we should have beat Bama multiple times in the last 7 tries and haven't which makes the anticipation for actually doing it that much greater. It's more of a validation than anything. You guys came in, dethroned us as the previous power team in the SEC, and became an all time dynasty. Everyone wants to beat you. Few teams actually can. LSU has been more than capable to win this game in recent years and didn't execute when it mattered most. That's not a talent gap, that's a scheme and discipline gap. That might be the part most people are "obsessed" with.

It certainly computes for your coach and program since they have felt the need to have their bye week preceding this game for how long? In other words, you don't have a clue.

LSU doesn’t have a rival so I wouldn’t expect their fans to comprehend what it means. Let me make it as simple as possible. If I had to choose between beating Auburn or beating LSU each year, I’d choose Auburn. Every. Single. Year. For 100 years.

I do feel bad for y’all. Not having a rival, you’re missing out on one of the greatest things about being a fan. Sucks, but nothing you can do I guess.

Says the gump in a thread about LSU started by a gump.

Have you just logged into the rant for the first time in the last 10 days? I promise you, that street goes both ways.

Oklahoma beats OKSU like 8 out of 10 times
Why can’t there be such a thing as a “new” rivalry? The series is 15-11 in my lifetime

2005 was pretty epic, and a bit of foreshadowing.

Bama has yet to play a single team in the top twenty S+P. LSU is 4-1 against top twenty S+P teams this season. Anyone would look great playing your schedule thus far.
