Have to agree with TideSaint — no one I know IRL uses the "Bama" vernacular, in spoken or written form.

I have no idea what this thread is all about. Are you trying to say that BAMA is not in our fan vernacular?

I grew up wearing T-shirts and hats with BAMA on them. Later it was all over my car. From the front tag to the back windshield.

Lots of teams have short nicknames. Like UGA for instance. Most everyone I know now just calls them 'Mutts'

USC (their own folk, we all know what everyone else thinks USC is) vs. South Carolina

I have a bunch of team gear that says Carolina. I don't have any that says USC....

Love these bandwagon LSU fans who dont know shite about sports. Ole Miss? Mizzou? Wazzu? Vandy? Pitt? Cuse? any of these ringing a bell?

No Alabama fan I know calls us Bama.

I certainly don't.

Its literally what I have called it since I was a kid. Growing up my grandparents and much older relatives always called it "the university"

Why do people call it "LSU" instead of "Louisiana State?"

Personally love the Louisiana State moniker sometimes. Not always but just on occasion. TOUCHDOWN LOUISIANA STATE

This is the kind of thoughts that keep LOLSU fans up at night?

Simple minds = simple thoughts I guess

Sure, it's on merchandise and people obviously refer to it that way.

What I'm saying is that neither my friends nor I actually use it when speaking about the team, in group texts, etc.

Now that I think about it, I also can't recall owning any merch that has "Bama" on it. Most of mine has the script "A", the elephant logo, or the full word "Alabama," for example.

I realize it's common (especially among other fanbases), just not as much in my particular experience. To each their own, I guess — just a personal observation.

It's weird, I don't use it when talking or writing, but my favorite Alabama t-shirt is a worn out looking gray shirt with BAMA in crimson.

Pretty common on the front jersey of the Alabama softball and baseball team too.

That's what I was saying.

I have plenty of merchandise with BAMA plastered across the front or back, but if someone asks me what program I root for the only word out of my mouth is Alabama.

UT, USC, LSU, And UGA (maybe UK) are all short forms
