Someone took a picture of a small section of the stadium.
That's the 10-30 yard line..

Look at the empty seats around that.
Yea it's a 70,000 seat stadium with 30,000 people in it...

Your money is going places much worse if you live in Bham

I really hope they fail in shutting it down.
Heck, they nearly beat MSU this year.

it would not be smart to start a program there. It will lose money and be a drain on resources.
They know that because of Alabama's experience with UAB.
Texas and Alabama are two very different states.... There is about 6 to 7 times more people in Texas than Alabama. it is also big as frick. shitty comparison by a shitty poster.

ehh an exception can be made for C-USA/American.
Or you go to the Big East. But that is only if your competitive. Which you have not been in b-ball.

We don't fit in anywhere in the Big East... Not Catholic, not in the northeast or midwest...

Hell I think South Alabama should end football too. There is no reason for a commuter school to have a football program especially the way UAB and USA do it by soaking students with fees to pay for it.

texas has about 6-7 times more people?
Im spit balling so feel free to correct me.

The best UAB could ever hope for in bball is the AAC and football having a 35K-45K OCS would put them in the conversation for that. If UAB dropped football then C-USA would kick them out and they would be forced to join the Sun-Belt or even worse.

Alabama
Bama
Auburn
USA
UAB
Troy
Louisiana
LSU
LaTech
ULL
ULM
Tulane, but they are private
Georgia
UGA
GaTech
Georgia State
Georgia Southern
So 5 for Alabama is not that much.

I wouldn't deny that protection of the Alabama brand and program is not a factor in the thought process of the Board. It would be naive not to think so. It's just common sense from Bama's standpoint to oppose it and I have absloutely no problem with it.....but the fact remains that the business case for throwing tens of millions of dollars into UAB football just doesnt make sense. I am all for supporting UAB and think the Board could do much more....but building out a de-novo football program that has struggled at best is not a good use of precious resources.

Not so much a commuter school anymore and we can do whatever we want. Suck it.

Just asking.
Well, the guys in red that play at Auburn's "Tuberville Denny Stadium" have a team, so I guess so

Birmingham Metro is well over 1 million.
UAB has 18,568 students. UAB student-housing occupancy has been at more than 98 percent for the past five years and more than 100 percent the past two years.
Why is a 27,511 seat stadium unreasonable for UAB?
The feasibility study stated:
operating revenue projection ranging from $5,782,723 the first year to $6,875,635 in the 10th year. Operating expense projections range from $835,000 the first year to $1,089,486 the 10th year. The payments on the bond would have been 3 million annually.
Now if you disagree with the study, fair enough, but did the BOT have a study that contradicted these numbers?
If you want to read the rather uncomfortable Q&A between the news and Bryant Jr. who never had a formal vote on the matter at all. Click this link.

Of course if you want to keep your head in the sand, please feel free to continue to blindly defend UA.

The fact is UA has willing done so when they would not have to if they did not proactively take actions to prevent UAB from having a successful viable program. UA would save millions if they did not intentionally frick them over at every turn.

Yea UAB is building so many dorms now, it's not really a commuter school at this point.
