Any idea who this "investigation" was conducted by or why?

Never mind...I actually checked the second link. Looks like Bama is done, we might as well quit trying at this football thing.

Middle school students were personally recruited to Arnold by football coach James Hale.

This is only an issue if it is determined that the University of Alabama paid the high school coach $200,000 for the young man to attend the University of Alabama. Of course, we know that would never happen with the University of Alabama paying a high school coach $200,000 to direct a high school student athlete to the university. That would set a precedent for behavior never seen involving the University of Alabama

so you're saying everybody, but the best player on the team got benefits?
I did not read that article to say that everybody got benefits. Sounded like they only investigated a few kids who did not live in the district.

Auburn and Alabama will eventually tear each other apart.

South Alabama will rise.

Even if Williams got improper benefits, I doubt he's dumb enough to admit it and screw up his career.

I think he'll play. Don't see the NCAA doing anything. They're typically worthless.

Coaches give their athletes rides all the time. A lot of these kids are from poor backgrounds with no transportation, or they're not old enough to drive. Big deal.

Would this make him ineligible if he took benefits? Would he still be considered an amateur?

Would depend on who he got the benefits from and if the NCAA would allow him to pay them back.

Now if it was the Bama booster "volunteer assistant" that was "helping him out"...?

Why would we want the rivalry to end? It's the biggest in CFB.

the University of Alabama paying a high school coach $200,000

C'mon now. We weren't that stupid. That was the asking price. Nobody pays the asking price. We got him for less than 50% of that.

I can gladly say this is Germans. I posted this yesterday in the Recruiting thread.

I knew you would bring this here. Nevermind it has nothing to do with Alabama.
