Would this make him ineligible if he took benefits? Would he still be considered an amateur?

Are there any other SEC players from this high school in Panama City Beach? These kids were getting a serious hook up.

Common threads run through many of the interviews:
•Middle school students were personally recruited to Arnold by football coach James Hale.
•Players said they received gift cards from Hale for free food, mostly from the Montego Bay restaurants.
•Players were given cash by a volunteer to the program, Panama City Beach real estate agent Mark Cowart. A few of the students reported that Cowart would give them $20 or $25 after each game. He would give them money at other times if they asked for it, they told the investigator.
•Cowart or another volunteer picked them up at home and drove them to and from school.
•Players were given free access by Cowart to the Laketown Wharf Condo swimming pool and Jacuzzi.
•Players would spend the night at Cowart’s Laketown Wharf condo or at Cowart’s Bay Point home.
•Players also complained that they were made to take too many phys ed classes and not allowed to take enough core education classes to qualify them to attend major colleges and universities.

The NCAA might disqualify him from playing in college if he was ineligible at the HS level. This might cost him.

eta- on the flip side, the college BB player that was such trouble at Kentucky but good a couple of yrs ago, did something similar in playing at Clay, they "recruited" players to play and they were forced to leave and play elsewhere, but he still was able to in college.

I think the only sure thing, is that the NCAA will eff this up if they have to make a decision.

eta, eta - Red Doggers doing work son!

If they can prove it, then there is no way he will ever play a down at Alabama.

Interesting how you phrased this. Failed to mention the name of the school, but was able to get your daily Bama zinger in.

Nice job.

Ever heard of Renardo Sidney? Actually, I think you know the answers to your questions. Just are just being the passive/aggressive today, right?

This is the SECRant.com. Eddie Williams signed with an SEC school. Arnold High School did not sign with an SEC school.

I've this stange premonition several high school players will have pictures emerge of them wearing Au shirts. I don't know why.

This will probably end up with the same result as when the AU football players said they were paid.

It sounds like the kids referenced in the investigation were not eligible to play college football. So it doesn't sound like Williams.

This is why I'm so impartial to college football. Basketball ftw. (Yes I'm aware it's dirty in bball, too but Bama's not good enough to cheat at that)

What has the NCAA done in previous cases that were similar?
