According to StubHub, more than 50 percent of the ticket sales have come from within the state of Georgia, compared to 4 percent from Alabama. According to TickPick, another ticket marketplace, the number is 66 percent in Georgia compared to 6 percent in Alabama. “Mama is giving up her shoes to go to this ballgame,” said Randy Cohen, the CEO of TicketCity. The demand started in earnest. Georgia fans crashed StubHub’s site not long after the culmination of the Bulldogs’ double-overtime victory against Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day. StubHub spokesperson Cameron Papp said the site went down for 20 minutes. Since then, it has been selling tickets at high levels, as a suite went for $94,000 and the highest single ticket went for $12,080. Face value for the tickets range between $375 and $875. The lowest price to get in the game on the secondary market is $1,250. No one has realized the demand of Georgia fans more than Alabama fans, who are savvy in the market from the Crimson Tide being part of six of the past nine national title games. The theory in the ticket industry is that Alabama fans, sensing the ability to make a profit, are putting their tickets on the secondary market to exploit the lust of Georgia fans

It will be like an away game for Alabama. Alabama tends to do better away. Alabama fans making a huge profit, and being able to celebrate another national title...

This game will leave folks proclaiming Saban is the best ever.

No surprise. You can't even turn on the local Atlanta channels without reports about UGA playing in the title game. Damn amateurs.

Supply and demand dictates the price. Nobody is exploiting anybody. If it works for you guys and it works for us, then I don't see a problem. The UGA mind set is this a once in generation event, the Bama mind set is it happens about every other year. Just enjoy the home field advantage.

Lots of bama fans in Georgia tho.

Maybe if Bama had a bigger name opponent.
I kid.

Georgia fans haven't experienced a National title game experience in 30+ years, and I'd be shocked if Georgia doesn't outnumber Bama fans 2 to 1 or even 3 to 1 within the city of Atalanta or at the game itself. Plus, Bama fans have probably spent so much $$$$ on these type of games lately, making the extra bucks off this game wouldn't hurt.
Enjoy Georgia fans, I wish all fan-bases could experience the atmosphere title games bring.

These people make a ton of money off these games. Even though its seasonal it still rakes in the cash.

It hasn't been 40 years for all of us.

This is literally a once in a lifetime event for Georgia fans. Bama has been here before. Just business as usual for us. You likely won’t be back in this position until another 40 years so it is why your fans are buying tickets.

Hmmm. Not sure if serious.

Very serious. You have a Senior laden team and The East will get better and you will be back to playing for 2nd or 3rd place in the Division most years.

Its not rocket science why this is so. I don't blame UGA fans at all for paying big money for tickets.
Once you deduct the price of a flight for two people($800-$1200) and the price of a hotel ($200-$800), there is a lot of money left over to spend on the tickets.

True freshman at QB.
Stacked tailback room.
Returning 4 of 5 on the OL (edit to add that 2 are freshmen, and we have stocked back to back amazing classes on the OL with redshirts and another crop of future NFL players arriving on campus last week).
Defense was recruited by Jeremy Pruitt. He is amazing at finding talent. But a lot of it is 3 star talent being coached up.
Huge talent upgrades in the secondary replacing the seniors.
Our question-marks on defense are replacing Roquan and if Baker returns or not. But Kirby came from Bama. It isn't rebuilding. It is reloading. We both know that UGA is capable of doing that.

Pruitt is at Tennessee now. Tennesse and Florida will be getting better. You literally had no resistance or competition this year in the East. This is a once in a lifetime event for Georgia fans. Enjoy it because you are about to be back to where you were which is 2nd or 3rd in the East and an SEC championship once every 10 years or so.

Sounds like you are trying to convince yourself of something.
Hahahaha.
We have the QB, the OC, and the offensive scheme to make a run for years.
Even if the defense takes a 1 year step back, we are talented ebough to be top 3 in the conference. And recruiting well enough to be the early favorites in the east for 19 and 20.

2014 recruiting class is 6th best in conference
This crop of seniors is the 6th best in conference.
Imagine what we can do with the 1st and 2nd best crop of seniors (and the QB position rolling along)
