I'm not sure what you think is cute. Attendance numbers are not gate numbers.
You can argue with the Aubie about 4k all day. Unless someone has gate numbers then it's all BS.

The top 15 schools make some sense, the rest is a mess. Florida has had far more success than most of these teams and has higher average attendance, something in the figures he is using is amiss.
Again, taking into account the fact that Florida is spending far, far more than many of those programs, and I don't think it's so far fetched.

Do you need a damn link that shows Florida spends more on basketball than Northwestern or Dayton?

And the Dodgers spend far more than the Rays, but which franchise would get more on the open market? Just admit there is a flaw in the methodology, it's okay.

5 games at 5,000 (Non-Conference)
4 games at 12,000 (Weekday SEC)
2 games at 14,000 (Weekend SEC)
3 games at 15,000 (Kentucky, LSU, Auburn - sellouts)
Average of 10,429
Seems pretty reasonable

There very well could be, but the people in this thread crying about it are going a bit overboard and failing to take into account some pretty important criteria in measuring profit.

We also bring in far more revenue, it balances out. Louisville, Kentucky, Kansas spend more than we do, but also bring in even larger revenues.

I thought your thread was about value. Now it's about profitability?

Staunchly defending it and completely shitting on it are both bad positions.
Alas, this is the SEC Rant though. Grey does not exist here.

I mean, that's cute and all, but I'm not sure about the "4,000 average attendance" that NYT is talking about.
so you dont believe me?
you were able to search the other quickly, but glanced right over the actual attendance figures.
Its not a bad thing, Bama does it well. They package basketball tickets with several thousand football tickets. its a forced buy to get the football tickets. it in turn, elevates their tickets sold attendance numbers

Just to jump back into attendance - we generally sell out 5-6 SEC games a year, especially when we are playing well and people are excited (like this season). Our gym seats 15,000. Contrast that with Auburn (9,120), Ole Miss (9,500), Georgia (10,523) and Florida (11,548). So, we have 5/14 games that are at 90% actually butt in the seats capacity and it makes sense our average attendance would be ~10K, even if for the bad home OOC games the place is 1/3 full and the mid-week SEC games it is 3/4 of 2/3 full.

I think the games like Norfolk State and Southern Miss probably draw 4-5K people (1/3 capacity). I think almost all SEC games draw about 10K minimum, and about half our home games are 90% filled (Kentucky, Auburn, LSU, this year A&M).
Mesh all that together and you come to an average of somewhere around 10K.

I don't care about your attendance enough to jump back to it. Sorry.
I don't care about any team's attendance either. It's not really a Bama thing. This isn't something worth spending a whole lot of time on IMO.

He's not measuring profit. He's measuring value.
The Royals are probably more profitable than thr Dodgers. No one would argue that they're more valuable.

I wonder if there is a package deal for Bama Fans, if they are season ticket holders in Basketball, they get some preference for football season tickets ?

We don't have Billy D's salary any longer so 2012 data is useless when measuring value as of last year.
