I know I have no dog in this fight, but seeing all of these claims that Alabama gets some sort of special treatment (I’m from Louisiana and have been seeing the crazy amount of claims on my social media)......were these type of claims common before Saban got to Bama? Or was it when he started winning?

I’m assuming that the SEC office has been in Birmingham for quite a while, so it’s pretty easy to use geography as an argument that Bama gets favoritism. At the same time, I don’t remember this argument popping up pre-Saban. Someone educate me on this.

Yes, Back in the day Alabama would be allowed to schedule an extra conference game (Vandy) every year so they would get the conference title in the event of a tie.

Dick Burleson was the #1 SEC ref for decades and was a Bama boy and close personal friend of Bear.

Possibly true.

At the same time, I've never seen so many people make these claims until they started their consistent winning. When they were getting beat, no one batted an eye. But when they started winning National Championships again, all of a sudden it was because the "SEC office was in Birmingham" or "SEC officials are Bama grads."

We’ve been running shite for generations. If you’re not used to it yet, might want to call the ACC for an invite.

Only LSU fans say this kind of crap. Utterly ridiculous.

The entire country thinks or assumes Bama does things at least in shades of gray.

I mean, it is a literal fact that many people in prominent positions at the SEC offices are Alabama graduates. Mark Womack and Steve Shaw are the 2 biggest examples.

Refs gambling on games is WAY more believable than an SEC office conspiracy.

If it's just football though (and ultimately, it's a sport and not important to life), why do you LSU fans get so worked up over it?

Why get so worked over something that is really just some kind of whacky conspiracy theory?

I don't even see Georgia, Florida or even Auburn fans get this triggered and melty over it.

It's almost like most of your identities are tied up over a football team. And you guys even have an NFL franchise (and a very good one too) to get excited about too.

what are you talking about? That was back when EVERYONE in the SEC had 2 permanent east opponents. Our was Vanderbilt as we'd been playing them every year since before the second World War.

So what you are really saying is...

Alabama grads get jobs.

He's talking about in Bryant coaching days. Occasionally Bryant would schedule an extra SEC game. Nothing was stopping the other SEC teams from doing it so I don't know what the issue was

One would assume Oklahoma fans would be used to winning enough that they, too, get the same shite Alabama does. I guess it's the lack of national titles that makes them, too, sore losers.

Alabama fatigue has turned many a fan into pansies.

Pre Saban
Bama was a few seasons removed from suspension.... for cheating.
They vowed never to let that happen again (getting caught, that is)

True that.
