The OOC loss to Florida State does not matter a hill of beans. In order for Alabama to miss out on the SEC Championship Game with a win over Auburn, the following things would need to happen:
1. Arkansas would need to upset Texas
2. Kentucky would need to upset Vanderbilt
3. Arkansas would need to upset Missouri
If those three things happen, Georgia will play Texas A&M for the SEC title in Atlanta.

Aggies lose to Texas they aren’t going to the SEC championship…
Correct. Someone seems to think that non-conference games figure into the CCG equation. That’s wrong.

You need Auburn to beat Bama and State to beat Ole Miss to get in if A&M loses to Texas
That’s my understanding as well. Essentially we must beat Texas to go.
But perhaps just as importantly beating Texas means we beat the same team OSU did so we have the same head to head opponent. You can bet A&M will be prepared for that game. It will help their seeding dramatically with a win. If they win the SEC but lose to Texas but blackfish into the SEC championship they will stay at three.
If they beat Texas and Beat Bama they will be number 1.

IF Alabama wins out, loses in Atlanta, and gets left out of the CFP as a result, that will be the best possible scenario for the conference going forward. The SEC Championship Game is outdated and needs to die. If the loser of the conference championship game is kept out of the CFP when they would have otherwise been in that will likely signal the death of conference championship games as a whole.
If you had played a Notre Dame or Oregon to open the season, and lost, I don't think we'd be having this conversation. But it's gonna be hard to look at your resume if you are going up against a team with two losses and their two losses are to decent teams. It's not that you'd have three losses, but more that one of those three was to a terrible team and you really were never in the game after the first half.

FSU is #25 in FEI, #24 in F+ and #26 in FPI.
Alabama is 4-2 against F+ top25(26 for FPI) teams.
Notre Dame is 1-2

Well, they're not looking at that. Notre Dame is already above you. Aside from winning the conference, probably not jumping them unless they lose.

But you're implying with your OP that Bama would have a shot at the Conference Championship game if aTm loses. That's not possible. They would win the tie breaker over Georgia yes, but they still have 1 non con loss that will be a determining factor in a tie breaker on who gets in the CCG and who doesn't. Same goes with Bama vs aTm. If aTm loses to Texas, they still hold the edge over Bama to go on to play Ole Miss (assuming they win out.) If aTm loses to Texas then the SEC would have to decide between UGA and ATM vs Ole Miss i
If Texas AM loses to Texas, as long as Tennessee beats Florida or Vandy beats Kentucky, Bama would play Georgia and AM would be left out. Here's the link for you to see for yourself.
SEC TieBreaker

Wrong. Oklahoma still only has a left than 50% chance to make it. Bama is at almost 80% and after Auburn it’s like 98%.

They’d be ahead of you too, then.

They literally just did that to Miami relative to ND.

But who’ll be SEC Champs?

But the tiebreaker factor comes into play. You all have 2 loses 1 in conference and 1 out of conference. The other three teams all have 1 loss in conference. (Assuming aTm loses to Texas.)
Why would an out of conference loss have any impact on conference standings?
Is this why you guys left the Big 12? The number 12 required you to take your shoes off?

Least of my concerns tbh.

It's our fault for letting them in. If we had any sense of trying to elevate the SEC, Oklahoma's name would never have made the short list.

Same amount of losses, yes, but one more win. I could see it

I don't really give a shite about where the committee ranks who.
I'm only in it for the discussion on how you do it properly. And I just showed you how and why.
Posted on 11/19/25 at 10:38 am to BigSneezy
The ONLY poll/ranking that matters is the last one. IF Bama were able to 1) get into the playoffs and 2) win out from there, I'll be satisfied with their final ranking.
