“Kenny Bell is having a really good spring,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said. “… He’s probably been the most consistent guy making plays.”

Bell, a rising junior from Rayville, La., caught 17 passes for 255 yards, including a 39-yard touchdown pass against Tennessee in the second half of the season. He also caught one pass – a clutch 26-yard catch and run – for a first down in the national championship victory over LSU.

“The momentum I had last year from the championship game, I carried it into this year,” Bell said. “I feel like this year, learning a new offense, it’s going to be a real good year for me. I’ve been taking it day by day, learning everything.”

Bell said the offense isn’t really new, just a little different. He said the passing routes are a little more vertical, adding it was a receiver-friendly attack.

The Louisiana native smiled when asked about the reception he got when he returned home after the title game, then again at spring break.

“It’s kind of settled down a little,” he said. “A lot of people hung out their Alabama flags. When I go eat with my nieces and everything, they have a lot of LSU fans there, they’re proud. But at the end of the day they’re proud of me, too, because I’m a hometown hero.”
