Undefeated as a starter though. Not bad for the WOAT.

That would be cheaper than paying off Jimbo.

Jimbo hasn’t had a QB since Winston left for the NFL.

I can’t for the life of me figure out his inability to identify, recruit and develop a QB recently when for a decade I though he and Cutcliffe were the best in the business at it.

A&M with a QB is a potential top 5 team.

Our QB... well... he just isn't very good.

I would not be surprised to see him have an outstanding game Saturday. He's played very well against Alabama in the past. I think this is going to be a surprisingly close game.

He couldn’t be stopped against Southern Miss in that start:

Let's deep dive.

At Florida State, post-Winston:

2014: Lost out on Deshawn Watson to Clemson. Cosentino was unable to unseat Maguire or Franklin. Franklin eventually went JUCO.

2015: Lost out on Rosen to UCLA. Francois redshirted in 2015 and actually had a decent 2016. In 2017, he fell apart after being injured for the season.

2016: Lost out on Eason, Costello, Franks and Haskins. Signed Malik Henry, who left after the 2017 season.

2017: Lost out on Ehlinger. Blackman is still FSU's starting QB.

At A&M, he came onboard less than a week before the early signing period (2017-18). He signed James Foster, the #12 Dual-Threat QB in the country, in February. Unfortunately, he never developed because Fisher was too fixated on Moon Moon.

2018-2019: Grant Gunnell was originally committed to A&M, but he was committed to Sumlin, not A&M. He ended up at Arizona. With the exception of Calzada, none of the other QBs were ever going to give A&M a second look.

2019-2020: Lost out on Uiagaleilei to Clemson. Hit on King (top target) and backed off of Hornsby once King signed.

2020-2021: Stowers has basically been Fisher's target from the beginning.

As far as development, it's still too early to tell with Calzada and King. Fisher has gotten all he can out of Mond.

2017: 19-29-1 for 237 yards and 1 TD, 14 carries for 14 yards and 1 TD

2018: 16-33-2 for 196 yards and 1 TD, 18 carries for 98 yards and 1 TD

2019: 24-42-0 for 264 yards and 2 TD, 16 carries for 90 yards and 1 TD

Most of those stats came when A&M was already down 3 scores.

Yeah but in his defense, the Alabama O was almost unstoppable in those games. Especially in the 2018 game, they could not stop the Alabama O and just got outraced. I think it was fairly close at the half until Alabama came out of the locker room and scored two quick TDs. The game was over at that point.

In 2017, it was 17-3 Alabama at the half and 24-3 mid-3rd. (27-19 final)
In 2018, it was 7-7 after 1 and 31-13 Alabama at the half. (45-23 final)
In 2019, it was 24-13 Alabama at the half and 34-13 mid-3rd. (47-28 final)

Has Jimbo recruited a decent QB since being at TAMU?

Honest question...

ETA- Never mind, I see you already answered.

Haynes King (2020) and Eli Stowers (2021).

The jury is still out on Zach Calzada (2019) but Georgia wanted him BAD.

Yeah, King

He has the rating but still needs to be proven like any player

looked bad playing vs Vandy in his opinion because he literally would not be surprised if A&M has actually been spending fall camp prepping for Bama game

I'd wager a part of that is true, as it is a typical condition for a trap game like Vandy became to unfold.

That said, Bama and Saban always get everyone's best shot. That isn't new. I have liked the shift in mindset by Saban over the last couple of years to jump on teams early and break their spirt by halftime. VS. the more methodical, pro style ground and pound with a sprinkling of play action pass to break their will over the course of a game physically and mentally. The latter left the door open too often in the 4th qtr for confidence to build in the opponent and an upset/closer than desired outcome emerged too often in games like this weekend.

So other than 2018,the games were all fairly close at halftime with A&M having a chance to tie the game at the end in 2017.

A&M scored with 17 seconds left to cut the lead to 27-19. Saying that the Aggies "had a chance to tie" is misleading.

That's like 2013 A&M "had a chance to tie" when they scored to cut the lead to 49-42 with 20 seconds left.
