unishing them because Miami and Clemson had disappointing seasons seems ridiculous, but these things happen when you have a subjective system to field a playoff rather than an objective one.

But yet people want to punish Alabama because we played team like USF, Chat, MTSU, and lsu.

Now do 1993 FSU. I'm sure that's different somehow though.

The ACC had a winning record against the SEC this year.

So now the ACC is the top conference because they were successful against the bottom of the half of the SEC East and the middle of the road in the SEC West?

Then let's just call this year poetic justice for FSU.

How about Miami beating FSU head to head both with 1 loss/same record, both conference champs and FSU plays for the NC instead of Miami?

I actually don't like FSU

But I also don't like the idea of the committee deciding whether an undefeated team should go to a playoff based on an injury, I know the language has always been there but this is the first time it's really been applied.

That's a slippery slope.

Most Alabama fans would throw a fricking fit if the roles were reversed.

True as any fanbase would.

If that was the only reason I might agree. But it wasn't.

Man I have said all along that Saturday night was the championship to me. If we (Bama fan) don't play again - this season is complete. Bowl or playoffs is cherry on top.

Not according to the committee.

Alabama fans seem to be trying to create some revisionist history here where they got in because of their strength of schedule.

I'm sure that mattered to some extent but let's not fool ourselves, FSU is in if Jordan Travis is healthy.

Not to argue, but I think Bama's case was more good wins than anyone (4), including beating number one. I do not say that should trump FSU's undefeated season. But if FSU showed any sign of a pulse Saturday with their backup QB, this wouldn't even be a topic.

Match ups matter.

Here were their six wins

ACC champ (13-0, ranked 5th) defeated SEC West 3rd place team (9-3; ranked 13)
ACC champ (13-0, ranked 5th) defeated SEC East 5th place team (5-7)
ACC 6th place team (8-4, ranked 22) defeated SEC east 6th place team (4-8).
ACC last place team (4-8) defeated SEC east last place team (2-10)
ACC 7th place team (8-4) defeated SEC east 6th place team (4-8)
ACC 9th place team (7-5) defeated SEC west 4th place team (7-5)

Four of the wins were against non-bowl eligible teams with losing records. It was largely a case of teams from the top half of the ACC playing teams from the bottom of the SEC. Three of the wins were against Vandy and South Carolina. There were two quality wins.

Kentucky upsetting Louisville and Georgia naming the score against Georgia Tech during rivalry weekend hurt the ACC’s perceived strength. Florida State struggling with a bad Florida team hurt the ACC’s perceived strength. The only two SEC wins that made the ACC look good were Florida State’s win over LSU and Miami’s over A&M. But they were early season, and neither LSU nor A&M lived up to their preseason expectations, so even those wins lost a little of their luster.

The committee admittedly put a lot of stock in the Louisville game, which is dumb, that quarterback wouldn't be starting in the playoff.

It'd be like basing Alabama's chances on the South Florida game.

Both teams had a good argument to be in and both have a legitimate reason to be angry if they didn't get in.

The committee could have avoided some of this by dropping FSU in the rankings as soon as Travis got injured, I think they assumed the logjam would work its way out (like it always had before) and it didn't.

They can’t. It’s their lives, and many of them believe that they directly influence the outcomes. They can’t admit that Bama isn’t “just so much better than everyone else.”
