The media also told us Hillary Clinton was the smartest woman to ever live and BOH would the greatest President in history.

Now after having read all the responses now it looks like all of I said was a combination of what they said. I hadn't read a single one of them.

It's because that angle is the truth.

As a survival technique, my brain has selectively blocked out all of my memory between 12/3/11 and 1/10/12. So I have no idea what you're referring to

Nah, I just live in Houston and all the local news media outlets keeping saying "people are calling it, "the game of the century" "...and I just wondered what Bama fans thought was a more GOTC type game. Obviously none are literally the GOTC.

I just think all of A&M's hype/value is based off 1 single win against Alabama last season. Otherwise A&M hasn't done anything of note in about 15 years or more.

The LSU-Bama game of course had the back story, but LSU had won MNC in 2003 and 2007, and Bama had just won a MNC in 2009. Basically LSU and Bama stood on their own without using the other as a crutch to claim their "greatness".

All that is true about the back story stuff, sure... but the main deal is how great the two teams were. It was bound to be a great match up. It's a shame how few people appreciated what they saw, regardless of the score. I know a bit more scoring makes it more fun and dramatic, but the product on the field matters most.

Oh, and yeah. I heard this game tomorrow coined as the game of the millennium. Absurd. But, whatever sells. I'm all for the sport making a shite ton. :)

Well obviously this is Alabama's like sixth-most important game in the last five years (after the SEC championship games and the BCS title games) AT BEST.

Look at those rankings:
2009: #1 Florida v. #2 Bama; #1 Bama v. #2 Texas
2011: #1 LSU v. #2 Bama; #1 LSU v. #2 Bama
2012: #2 Bama v. #3 Georgia; #1 Notre Dame v. #2 Bama

Whereas it is arguably the biggest single game in aTm history.

A lot of people hate on the 2011 LSU/Bama 9-6 game, but that is honestly one of the best games I've ever seen.

Same here. Reminded me a lot of another 9-6 game in the 90's.

5-1 vs top 3 teams the last three yrs. 3-1 vs #1

I'm extremely excited for the game tmrw. It's huge.

But the hype surrounding the GOTC was unlike anything I've ever experienced. I remember it feeling like an event instead of a game. One that I might never get to experience again. At least for me, every play felt like its own individual game.
