Many insiders say Lacy was one of unsung reasons why the Tide won the national championship when he toiled on the scout team his first year. He was used to emulate other team's star players during practice week and was said to be unstoppable at times.
He was injured prior to last season and dinged several times as most backs are, but the point is that I don't think the opposition has seen what this guy can truly do yet and with another year of growth and maturity - if he fully recovers from the toe surgery - he may surprise some people this year. As good as the other two, I doubt it, but I'm not ruling it out because of what I've heard through the years and what I've seen firsthand.
The first time he fumbles doing that spin move - it will be interesting to see Saban's reaction. That's a dangerous move at full speed out in space, but to this point he's pulled it off, but you got to figure the cough-up is coming and Saban's reaction should be golden.

He fumbled 2-3 times in the first couple of games of the 2010 season. His pt pretty much disappeared after that. Course MI was out the first two games of the season so I'm not sure how much he would have played once MI returned anyway. I don't recall him fumbling last year. Being the featured back this year, I'd think he'd get a little more leeway now. Hopefully he's done with fumbling though.

I saw the fumbles the 2010 season. One I don't really think was his fault (just about anybody would have fumbled from the hit) but it was at a bad place on the field, but I don't think he's fumbled in a live game yet doing the spin move. And yeah, everybody was on him about fumbling a couple of times in 2010 and he pretty much stopped that argument.

holy crap. Just looked up his size. What a 1-2 punch.
And those two do not include the other two Rivals 5 star HB's on the roster.

With TR leaving some people are predicting a big drop-off in the running game which is understandable. If Lacy is healthy, I think he's going to surprise a lot of people though. He's a downhill, one cut runner who also has the ability to move the pile. I don't think he has quite the lateral cutting ability that Ingram or Trent have, but his spin move helps mitigate that.

Lacy and Mo Claiborne prob studied together in high school.

Watching this replay of the NC game, in the 3rd quarter and he's just running right over LSU.

the video has them both doing a lot of dancing to find holes before they take off. I just assumed cause they were so big they'd be bangers.

He dances to find a hole Rocky, that dont mean that he wont run the frick over a bitch once he gets to moving downhill.

I offer the following in my defense of being confused.
Of course there is the OP so I won't quote again.
quote:
don't think he's the same level of back as Ingram and Richardson. I don't think he has the same vision for the field and power, but he can make up for it with his athletic ability.
quote:
Yeah, from what I've seen I would agree that he's not quite the athlete
quote:
Neither Lacy or Fowler are they type that lowers the shoulder and punishes whenever possible.
Of course I knew what most were trying to say, but I was just giving the noob a hard time for fapping with Bama fans.

Although to be fair, I only thought of it because I was watching the NC game replay on ESPN. But I don't want to play favorites, can you tell me about this Cam fellow I've been hearing so much about?

My opinion is that Lacy is in the same league as TR and MI. Pretty much every time he has touched the ball, he has proven that. Sometimes last year when TR could not do anything, we put Lacy in there and he got us moving. The dude is talented, and will prove his worth this year. Hell, I was just as excited about him as TR when both signed. He is physical, and shifty. I am excited to see him as the #1 this year.

I agree with all of this 100%. He was able to move the ball at time when T-Rich wasnt able to. Some will say that its because the defense keyed on Trent and didnt key on Lacy but I just dont buy it. Not after he ran it down their throat for 8-10+ yards a few times and the defense didnt adjust who they were keying on.
He is a beast of a back imo. I think we are in good hands this year again.

Lacy is not a bruiser per se but he will run through you... his nickname is "Feets" because of his balance and the spin move on a guy his size. he also has enuff speed to go the distance.
Fowler is a beast! Saban talked about how dominating he's been during practice recently... If you guys don't think Fowler will smash that arse you are seriously mistaken he will be the most physical back we have had in many years... just about all of his 7 ypcs come after contact and he has the ability to find the hole and hit it.. he's going to be dangerous coming from behind that OL.

I would argue to say that if he (Lacy) was a premier back behind this years line. ... He would easily put up TR/MI numbers. However, I think this year will be a 3-4 headed monster.
I can see Lacy, Fowler, Yeldon and Hart all PT in different formations.
ETA: I don't think Fowler has break away speed. I think he is a little slower but more powerful than MI/TR. For me, the jury is still out on Fowler. Most of his PT last year came against weaker defenses and garbage time. If I recall ? I maybe mistaking though. I know he did get a few carries when Lacy was out.
ETA2: Just looked up some of the game stats. He killed Ole Miss 9 carries 132 yards? But, his games played = Auburn, Vandy, Florida, OM, Kent State, GSU, Arkansas, NT.
