I pulled for LSU, but mostly because I had money riding on them. But also because of being a Gump I have an affinity for shrimp boat captains.

Was one of the first title games I wanted neither team to win. I pretty much knew LSU would win, but I did not pull for either team. Maybe I was a little happy Dabo didn't get #3, because everyone knew a coach O title was like a Chizik title. It was not going to be maintained.

Outside of the trolling on this message board and some people from South Alabama, most Alabama people don't have any sort of natural, born and bred hatred for LSU. Those of us who don't live near the coast or in Texas aren't around LSU folks all that much compared to Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida or even Clemson people, and LSU is a fun game that most of us enjoy every year.

When we were all growing up we were raised to understand that we disliked Auburn and Tennessee, and the severity of those 2 depended on where you were raised and what time period it was.

Hard to dislike a team you beat 9 out of 10 times

They were definitely a machine. They had a great year.

How can you expect us to root for The Tide if you wanted Dabo to win another NC and make his case as the best?

I really don't care who roots for us, but I didn't want Clemson to win against LSU last year because I didn't want to see them win 2 in a row, and 3 out of the last 4.

I wasn’t pulling for anyone just because it is Clemson and LSU is because LSU fans can not forget about things they hold on to things and then they think they are great or something with only 4 national championships

Same. Dabo was a family friend back in the day (I was too young to get to know him), but I'll be damned if I didn't root for LSU anyway.

Same here... Burrow seemed like a cool dude with a good attitude and work ethic.... Lawrence seemed to be an arrogant prick, maybe he wasn't but that's how it seemed... Most people I know locally in Alabama wanted LSU to win

Same here. I like LSU and their program, just not many of their fans... especially those who intercept fans and buses traveling to Baton Rouge; pay for billboards in my city saying 'Free Devin White'; spending half of their game thread on 'Refs are in the bag' and cheer for opponents players when they are hurt.

Some may say this happens with fans of other teams (hello Toomer's Corner trees) but those individuals are never celebrated like I see here at tRant.

Back on point... I was amazed at watching LSU last year. I had followed Joe Burrow when he left tOSU and was glad (as a Bama fan) he didn't have much time to learn/gel with the team his first season.

But last season - oh my. The team came together and played better than the sum of it's parts; there was no stopping them. The things Burrow did last year were incredible and the team fed on his energy and grit. I was thrilled when they decimated the Dawgs (not a knock on UGA) in the SEC championship.

I felt proud for LSU's team, fans and program when they completed their unbelievable journey by taking Oklahoma and Clemson to the woodshed. No one can take that away.
