Then there's the issue with the way Saban starts big games against tough opponents: always starts real conservative and plays it close to the vest so as not to make the early mistake. It usually ends up backfiring and gives the advantage to the opponent if they come out swinging.

I'm down with that. I'm a counter puncher, so as long as you are cool and serious, then I will be cool and serious. From the early results of the season I am starting to think the team with the ball last will win. I am not saying either team will score on every possession but at the end of the game and with both defenses tired, and a one score game. Then the last team with the ball has the best chance of winning.

That’s pretty weak. Nothing like having Florida, the Barn and State.

Bama has two cupcakes and a fruit cake. LSU has two top 10 teams and a cupcake.

I think we all believe it will be a shootout with both teams going over 40. That makes me think it will be something like 24-20.

If only Bama and LSU played each other so we would know who is better.

Bama/LSU this year will be a game for the ages like 2011 but with the offense driving the bus. In GOTC the narrative was "which offense can do enough to win" This year it will be "which defense can do enough to win." Looking forward to this game.

Always look forward to the LSU game, it's always a "Damn Fine Game". Too early to focus on it right now though due to still having a lot of work to do before we get there.....

could care less about LSU, we have games to play with other conference opponents and LSU is our whipping boy.

Thanks!

I’ll asmit I’ve been trolling some, but it’s been just good natured ribbing. I’d love to actually talk seriously about the game. It’s going to be good.

To me it’s crazy that this game will be an offensive show. Bama and LSU have always been known for tough defenses and a punishing running game. Now, both teams are mute Air Raid than anything else. Can you imagine these offenses being paired with our 2011 defenses? Insane!

Great talent should be on display from both programs. Offensive fireworks from Bama and LSU should be well received even by the "get off my lawn" crowd. IMO, neither defense is as bad as they appear from a superficial glance and with time and the return of injured players both should be improved. Nevertheless, the offenses have legit talent and the confidence of having proven themselves. It could be thrilling even if the final score is not as close as the game will likely be.

Hopefully, no losses or more injuries in the interim. You have UF (overrated) and AU left, Alabama has nothing between now and then. It's possible that Bama will be a bit stunned at first by the level of play because of the unusually soft sched til then. Especially all of the true Fr. playing on D (5 starting, 4 in front 7) who can't even refer to last year. IMO, Bama's O is better than last year even though drop off at RB and TE, though Harris is a great receiver and RBs are good enough to be the secondary focus. O more diverse, more complex, more adaptable, less risk, a year more experience. Tua's improved and healthy.

Shocking.

Worrisome.

The fact is both teams will arrive at this game with the same stature as 2011... On the other side of the ball.

It needs to be close, no matter who wins.

Otherwise Bama will end up with Dabo as their head coach as saban might have an aneurysm. And our coach will need new teeth from beating himself up.

Hell, if by some miracle it's a shootout, saban might still have an aneurysm.
