Bama fans - Does Mac Jones keep his job all year or do you expect Young to take over?

The lack of Spring and Summer camp has to hurt Young's chances I guess, but that dude has superstar written all over him.

You think you ride with Mac all year?

Covid complicates it and I think Mac Jones is a pretty good QB, but Saban knows he will either need to start Young or he will transfer after this year.

Given his talent on paper and the lack of other options in the QB room with Talia transferring I doubt he lets that happen.

Jones starts first half of the season with Young playing the second half when possible and they transition at some point prior to LSU is my guess.

I don’t think Young starts for UGA or USC given the lack of spring camp.

I think Mac plays all year. I just don't think playing true freshman is generally a good idea or what Saban wants.

However, since Lia transferred that doesn't really leave us much in the backup capacity. So that makes it less likely Young takes a RS(and he's likely gone in 3 years anyway, so probably doesn't matter). So I think we could see him a good bit. Wouldn't be surprised if we saw him in some roles every now and then towards the end of the year.

And if he does take the starting job, look out because unlike when Jalen started as a true freshman, it means he has taken over a pretty decent QB already.

Saban will wait till adversity hits before jerking Mac out for Bryce.
With majority of OLine, Najee, Smith & Waddle returning, we'll see when & if that happens.
Saban is crazy about Bryce, beaming with joy whenever discussing him.

This is why I wonder if him getting a lot of PT this year is not the best option. We have the most experienced and talented OL we’ve had since 2012, great RB and WR. With all of that experience we should be able to minimize any turnovers he makes within reason. Mac will do fine as a starter but Young is obviously the better athlete.

Yeah, there is no way it's true.

Not saying it's true, but 5* recruits are divas these days and there's the transfer portal, so it wouldn't surprise me that much

Had Tua not gotten on the field when he did he would have been gone after that year was over. #1 5* Qbs expect to play.
Fact of life.

What's happened to the little Tagovailoa? I know he wasn't as highly regarded coming out of high school, but is he in the mix at all?

That's why it wouldn't surprise me if Caleb Williams picked Maryland since Oklahoma has Rattler already. Would feel terrible for Taulia, but it is what it is.

I'm saying it's not true. Even from a 5 star selfish point of view it would be dumb. Unless he was to get passed up his sophomore year.

He would be the starter the next year otherwise, where as transferring would just mean he has to sit out another year, and then maybe get 1 year to play somewhere before going to the draft.

It just wouldn't make sense for him.

Plus, Saban would probably tell him to frick off with that type of entitled attitude and wouldn't recruit him to start with. It's not at all how Saban operates.

If he is the best player, then he will play. It's that simple. That's how Saban operates.

And he would have been stupid to do so and cost himself even more.

If you think a kid like Young came here to sit the bench you are naive.
