One thing will determine your defensive play next year.

How good is your Nose Tackle? If he is a beast your defense is fine without a good one though we see something similar to 2010 defense.

Yeah, I think you almost have to throw that GA Southern game out the window. We were clearly preparing for the future games more than that one. I think we will find a solid NT. I'm actually extremely excited about the D-line next year, especially if we can land Goldman.

OH! How could we forget Deion Belue? Somebody mentioned two JUCO CB's earlier, but it didn't hit me until just now. I'm hoping that kid can really deliver.

Jesse Williams alone makes me drool at what our defensive line is gonna do. The man is an animal. He may take Upshaw's place as the ferocious pass rusher, just from the DE position instead of the hybrid DE/OLB position that Upshaw played.

I think Chappy moving one will hurt alot. He has been an enforcer and anchor for 4 years. JW looks like he will pick up the emotional leader up front but Chappy took care of the line adjustments this year so Hightower could worry about everything else.

At LB, Nico will take over as the enforcer but look for CJ to replace Hightower as the guy handling the adjustments. Lester staying to run the DB's will be huge.

We lose experience and thats valuable! But talent... we got it. Hasean Clinton-Dix with lester returning and many more young talented players to develope. Alabamas D will be good for the next 4 to 5 years... talent wise.

Yes, loaded with talent.

We will have more 5 star talent on the field next year than any year Saban has been here.

Those in this thread that say they know there will be a dropoff, are showing they really don't know the roster very well.

Our defense will be down for the first part of the year and then get better and better.

I think our offense will be better and will offset our defense issues.

Drop off as in another top ten effort? Yes.

5* doesn't mean they are going to be as good as a starter this year. Very few out of all the 5*s ever make that kind of impact.

All the players that made the big plays most of the time this year will be gone. As far as the losses this year compared to before the 2010 season, 2010 will make this year seem like bama lost their whole team. All the players that were making the plays for the 2010 season will all be gone too.

But either way as long as NS and KS keep stealing everyone's play calls the defense will be good. Maybe the other OCs will wise up and change their signals right before the bama games like CGM did last year at halftime of the IB.

This will be nothing like going into 2010 when we had 2 starters returning. We have much more talent and experience now.

You can't lose 7 starters and NOT experience a drop off.

What are you talking about? Lester (led the 2010 team in INT's) is coming back, our dominant DE's are coming back, and 2 of out starting linebackers are coming back. We returned way less in 2010.

Alabama lost 10 starters after the 2009 season and still field a national top five defense. The 2010 season was more defined by injuries on the offense line, in my opinion. If Alabama avoids that in 2012, there's a chance to win the West and go back to Atlanta.

Square in the middle of 2010 and 2011. We won't see the drop-off in the secondary like we did 09-10. But overall we will drop a little in recognition.
