So he basically couldnt hack it in the NFL and had to run back to junior varsity to succeed. So your admitting he’s no Pete Carroll....

Surprisingly both had about the same record after the same time in the NFL.

So what you saying is Saban caught a bunch of perch while Carroll also caught one but managed to reel in a blue Marlin, lost another one at the edge of the boat, all the while Sabans boat died out on the high sea and had to towed in by the SS Gump Express......

What in the world are you talking about? My God man, at least try to make sense.

Final score be damned, it was great watching the tigers manhandle the tahd.

Enjoyed that immensely.

You should, it does not come around very often. After decades of playing Alabama in Baton Rouge, you realize that LSU has only beaten Alabama 9 times there.

I see someone is still salty.

Never forget, tank for Tua. Guaranteed Heisman winner. Arguably goat Bama QB.

Then comes along Joe to spoil all of it.

I am sorry, but you are SOOOO wrong about that. Coach Saban never wanted to come back to La, ever.

I mean I’ve heard the polar opposite directly from skip bertmans mouth.

He called skip, wanted to come back, skip told him sorry we can’t just fire les after 2 good seasons like that.

Alabama boosters then (figuratively) passed a hat around the room and collected as much money as possible, in order to get saban.

If you have a better source than Skip Bertman on the matter, I would love to hear their side of the story.

First of all it's pretty well documented that Saban was not going to leave Miami after 2006. He refused multiple requests to even meet with Alabama/Mal Moore to discuss the job. Terry had to basically trick him into meeting with Mal. Even then the next day he seriously considered staying because of the respect he had for Wayne Huizenga. People give him shite, but when he said he wasn't going to be the Alabama coach he meant it. His wife, agent, and team owner basically had to force him to leave Miami because they all saw how unhappy he was being in the NFL.

About your Bertman story, it's funny because for years the word around the UA athletic department was Miles was going to go to Michigan in 2007. LSU was going to let him go without a counter offer after the loss to Arkansas seemingly knocked them out of the BCS title game and some big money people were convinced Saban hated Tuscaloosa and would come running back to Baton Rouge. Two things changed after that. WVU loses to Pitt, opening the door for LSU to get in with two loses, and some LSU boosters contacted Sexton saying they wanted Saban back, Sexton told them there's no way he would leave Bama after one year, especially after the beating it took for leaving Miami. Kirk Herbstreit will tell you to this day he stands by his story on Gameday that Miles was taking the Michigan job. That changed very quickly when LSU was faced with the reality they were likely playing for the BCSNC and the guy they would get to replace Miles was going to say no. You wound up with that very hastily thorown together "Have a great day" press conference before kickoff.

I do wonder though....if Tennessee somehow beats LSU that day and eliminates them from contention, what happens? Does Fulmer still get fired in 2008? Does Miles then get strongly encouraged to take the Michigan Job anyway? Does Frank Beamer finally win a NC at Virginia Tech?

Michigan people have told me that Miles was never going to Michigan, him and Lloyd Carr didn't get along. Herbie (Buckeye) may have made that story up to embarrass UM
