They are the prettiest teams to hype. Arkansas lost their coach and the media pretty much hates Auburn ever since Tubs called out ESPN for too much power - so who else are they going to talk about? The East is pretty weak except UGA, who always under performs (historically AU does too when they are hyped). I agree they will both have different challenges and it won't be easy - UA needs a RB to step up, but behind that line it shouldn't be hard to find one. They are both pretty solid. So is So Cal.
so if they lose a game..must be coaching
so if they lose a game..must be coaching

Bama also lucked out by not playing us this year.

I was really looking forward to making it four straight over Florida.

Where will they be better?
LSU will be better:
a) at QB, obviously
b) at LB
c) on the OL, because of better depth and more experience
Bama will be better:
a) at Center
b) on the DL, because of depth
c) at third safety, replacing a walk-on with a 5 star
quote:
Where will they be worse
LSU will be worse:
a) at CB, because of losing Claiborne, Brooks, and Ron Cooper
b) ::crickets::

Bama will be worse:
a) at RB, because Trent Richardson was such a beast how can they replace that
b) at LB, Upshaw and Hightower were huge and were both seniors. they left big shoes to fill

LSU will regress at safety. Taylor was a really good player and Loston is not as good and is injury prone.
Ron Cooper was not only the best DB coach in the conference he was the best position coach period in the SEC. When he was at USCe their DBs were among the best in the SEC the fall off after he left was dramatic.
USC still had talent after left, but they were statisticly one of the worse passing defenses.
The fall at LSU won't be as dramatic, but there will be some regression.

We just have to see how it plays out. We lost Peterson so there was no way our secondary was supposed to be as good last year. We lost two starting DTs and Montgomery was coming of knee surgery so our DL wasn't supposed to be as good. It worked ok.
The initial guess is the DL is still going to be scary good. The LBs will probably be better, and the secondary will probably take a step back.

Why so much confidence both teams will just blow the SEC and the rest of the country away?
A UA fan will have to speak for their club. IMO, LSU's D may be as good or better...a top 5 calibre for sure. The O ranked 86 last year for Total Offense. At worst this will be duplicated. If Zach pans out the O could finish in the 30's, 20's or better. LSU seasons since 07 has been 8-5, 9-4, 11-2, 13-1. A 13 or 14? win season is very possible. Now in 2013 I have a suspicion the club will lose a lot of guys, a whole lot of guys. I don't think this means an 8 win season but I would be surprised if LSU is one of the favorites for ATL/BCS.
One fans opinion.

If you really want to learn everything you need to know about each team, how 'bout you just scan this board one of the multiple thousands of threads that did nothing but compare everything LSU and Bama from the amount defensive back experience to the total number of pubic hairs on the the cheerleading squad. No one wants to rehash all that shite here just to make your life easier.

If I were a fan of another club, then yeah, I can see it all being very tiresome, no doubt.

I think Cooper was a very good DB coach too, but come on let's not be overly dramatic on the huge dropoff at USCe after he left.
USCe was 2nd in Pass Defense in the SEC 2/3 years after Cooper left (2009 and 2011). USCe was 3rd in Total Defense behind AL and LSU in 2/3 years after he left (2009 and 2011).

The players alabama and lsu have recruited in the past few years is the reason these 2 teams can just plug another player in a position and not hardly miss a beat.No other team can match the recruiting these 2 coaching staffs have done.

Losses don't really hurt Bama when they develop players better than everyone and bring in 4 to 5 instant impact players in every recruiting class.
If bama dominates recruiting and dominates developing talent, then why is Saban on 3-3 against Miles? that leaves only one possibility. Miles is outcoaching on the field.

Bama...lost some studs on an incredible defense. Do most think they plug in new guys and don't miss a beat?
It's the Bama way

LSU lost some studs on D as well. Same question above to be answered.

Honestly the Bama game is the LSU superbowl even when LSU sucks the manage to play their best game against Bama.
2008 is a prime example. LSU was blown out several times and went 3-5 in SEC play, but still managed to take Bama to OT. While Bama was 8-0.
Its similar to the way OleMiss and Arky view the LSU game. The superbowl.
What was Miles record vs Petrino and Nutt?

We can both play this game, so me a break with the Superbowl BS. In 2007, Bama was not very good and had LSU on the ropes until Early Doucet scored on 4th down late in the game. The Bama crowd was going nuts up until that play and then the subsequent strip by Chad Jones.
11/5 was not just LSU's Superbowl. The electricity, build-up, and intensity from the Bama perspective prior to that game was massive. In 2010, Bama was still playing for the National Championship when they came to BR. That game was huge for Bama.
