Like I said, Mullen said it after being introduced to Florida and he wasn’t in a championship celebration. My HS coach used to say similar as well. Yes, Saban said it then but he has always related football to life even before championship celebrations. People gave Butch too much shite for that phrase and I’m sticking to that story.

Thats fine but he also had a history of being big on the "coach speak". Every coach does to a certain extent but he was very good at it. That also played a role as well. 5 star hearts was the next great line.

How many Playoff teams didn’t win their DIvision? Conference ? Go back to the BCS and ask that same question. How about the Poll system?

I am still unclear why Auburn shouldn't acknowledge that the 2017 team won the SEC West...it isn't as if we erected a statue. We painted on a hallway wall in one of our complexes.
That SEC West Championship was worth a hell of a lot to Auburn, as evidenced by CGM getting a very lucrative contract extension & raise. Wasn't that contract about 75% guaranteed?

They actually tied with Ala for the Western division. (Co-champs) Got into the SEC game due to the SEC tie breaker rule to determine the representative to the championship game.

Again, a concrete criteria (heads up play) compared to a committee selecting who wins. How many times did Bama win the SEC because of the extra game against Vandy in the 70s ?

Apples to oranges. You know that Bama belonged in the SECCG this year moreso than Auburn. The proof is in the results.
