But their hurry up offense went feast or famine too quick it looks like and they kept giving the other Tigers too many times at bat and the key stat was turnovers: 2 by AU and ZERO by LSU. AU wins that contest 7 out of 10 easy. Sometimes you just lose as ole Pat used to say.

Southeastern had a better pass rush

But they lost the only one that mattered, 2 years in a row.

It was a defensive battle no doubt which put the points at a premium. Auburn needed to add just one more score after the 21-0 run and couldn’t. The one drive that I thought we could, Stidham threw to a wide open receiver on a slant on third down and it ended up getting batted down. LSU simply made the plays to win.
By the time they completed the long catch and run TD (which was exactly what their doctor ordered,) the writing was on the wall for Auburn.

LSU 370 total yards against Auburn
Auburn 328 total yards against LSU
How can this be shutting down the LSU offense?
LSU dominated the time of possession LSU 35:04 Auburn 25:56
Turnovers LSU had 0 Auburn had 2
Score LSU 22 Auburn 21
First downs LSU 21 Auburn 19
I am totally confused what part of this game Auburn beat LSU in

Well, if you run 20 more plays than the other team, you're bound to have more production. Out of curiosity, what was the ypp for each team?

If LSU was able to run 20 more plays, how exactly did the Auburn defense "shut LSU down"? Seems to me that shutting them down would be getting the opposing offense off the field and therefore limiting their number of plays.

So what you're saying is, you definitely didn't shut down LSU's offense if they're running 20 more plays than your own team

One team was more inept than the other. Congrats.
Frankly, with stats like that, it never should have come down to a last-second field goal. Speaks to the ineptitude of the offense that much more.

And technically LSU had a turnover, the turnover on downs on the fake punt attempt, for whatever reason they've never counted turnover on downs as a 'turnover' even though the result is basically the same as a lost fumble or INT.

And to think it took 6 jobless Carlson FGs and a snap a split second too late in 2016 to keep LSU from winning 10 of the last 12 against Auburn.

LSU’s two TD’s were on a 35 yard drive and a 71 yard play. LSU going up 7-0 really set the tone for them to play ball control and dominate time of possession. Stidham with the 2 turnovers was huge. AU defense wasn’t the problem.

Duh. They got one lucky long td and a td off a turnover. Then all the help from the refs.

pass interference calls extended drives...

I really hope you're joking

They could have called 10 pass interferences on Auburn if they were really calling them fair that day. By the way, they missed a bunch of calls in your favor, like the no-fumble and leaping over the line on FG attempt.

Take all these lame stats and shove it, we lost 22-21 and that's all that matters. We got what we deserve for not putting the game away when we had the chance.

Game day is when it matters, not “7 out of 10.” You are one of those losers who talks about how it could have been different. But . . . .
