Only 6 of 16 SEC coaches have more than 3 seasons at their team currently.
You might be being a bit dishonest here. Mike Leach died at Miss St. they didn't fire him. Saban retired at Alabama, they didn't fire him either. Those 2 are not like the others.

To be fair, almost everyone has a losing record to Bama. Especially since integration.

Their problem has been (going on 3 now) absolutely putrid hires afterward.
Which points to the fact that their problem is Cohen. I haven't heard a single MSU fan who wasn't happy when Auburn took him off their hands.

But Bama is not the rival for most everyone. I consider Bama's rivals to be Auburn, LSU and Tn.

As i remember it, malzahn in the later years had lost the team and they quit on him. Almost identical to late freezus vs pre- auburn freezus. Gus had to go.

Well they've certainly done better than LSU and Tennessee.

Records vs Bama since integration
Aub: 22-34
UGA: 8-17
UF: 9-19
LSU: 17-38-1
Vols: 17-38-1

Barn’s problem is their absurd expectations and laughable impatience They’ve fired 2 coaches in 1.5 seasons and 2.5 seasons How are you ever gonna build a consistent program doing that? I bet Golesh is canned by 2028 as well because they are lunatics on the Plains

This. The unreasonable impatience is a program crippler.

It’ll take 4-5 years at a minimum to ever turn around this mess but no one wants to wait that long. We’re stuck in the spin cycle.

The smart move would’ve been to keep Freeze and have him hire a new OC and bring in another QB to try again. Instead we detonated the entire program (again) 3 years into a rebuild.

I'm fine with mocking Auburn but... he was past his sell by date when Auburn let him go.

It pains me to say it, but Houston Nutt was a good, though not great coach, for Arkansas but he got seriously stale at the end of his run here. He had to be let go.

Plus, usually when a coach goes stale, they stay stale. Nutt landed a steak and blowjob coaching position with Ole Miss and did good, until the talent ran out and the Rebels couldn't wait to run him off. Gus had his shot at other gigs and... didn't set the world on fire. Sometimes you're just out of gas.

Don't the boogs usually fire their coach so the next coach gets BAMA at home his first year?

They broke the trend this time.

Malzahn got us into this mess because he couldn’t recruit offensive lineman and his offense became a gimmick when the shine wore off. Had we not given him the absurd contract extension in 2017 after winning two home games late in the year we would’ve fired him well before 2020.

Gus Malzahn was 0-15 outside of Jordan hare stadium against alabama, Georgia, LSU, Florida, and Clemson.

He flopped at UCF and flopped this year at FSU as well.

My question to Auburn fans is: knowing what you know now, would you have pressured Auburn to keep Malzahn?
I think the more interesting question is knowing what you know now, would you have pressured Auburn to keep Freeze?

In fairness to Gus, he had to fight Nick Saban his entire coaching career just as Coach Shug Jordan did with Coach Bryant. Both of those guys beat some good Alabama teams and of course they lost some games as well.

Auburn thinks it’s the coaches that are the problem. These coaches were winning before Auburn. Legacy QB ran away, Sumrall said oh hell naw. The problem is Tim Apple and his demands. Cohen is incompetent and he does whatever Tim says.

firing malzahn wasn't the problem, he was never, ever going to win them a national title.

He literally had the lead in the national championship game with fewer than 30 seconds in the game.
