He really did talk a good game and I do think he knows how to coach football. He simply didn't like all the other stuff that's required of a big time coach so he just didn't do it.

I have no idea if he treated people badly or not.

No question it was time for Gus to leave, but Harsin was a terrible fit, and Green was in over his head plus the school president was a dumb arse.
Gus needed to go, but to make the choice to can him while owing him a $29MM buyout + around $5MM in staff buyouts, without a solid coach in line to replace Gus was idiotic in hindsight.

I don't know who the AU PTB thought they could land that justified paying Malzhan & staff that much $$ to leave?

Sounds like more than enough evidence to fire him "with cause" and not pay him a dime

There obviously was no evidence since the investigation found no wrongdoing.

I think he was an a-hole, just not a racist a-hole.

If we are doing hindsight it was dumb to give him that extension because a rumor Arky wanted him came out, most likely from that damn Sexton, who bends most schools over the sofa.

That's why I was pissed when they fired Gus.

There was some thick smoke billowing around after the exit interviews of Mason and some players that transferred out. Harson may not be racist, but his treatment of certain individuals on his staff and his roster weren't conducive to building a strong and trusting relationship within his program.

It's possible that he just didn't understand the relationships, spirituality and culture in the South, and he didn't give a shite to even try to learn or accept them? Family & God are a strong core of what Auburn is all about and Harsin didn't fit.

He's an egotistical, self-centered man that puts on the alpha male persona with his vanity. He invests more time and energy in his own appearance and less about the appearance of his job performance.

Understandable, have an ace in the hole if you're unloading that kind of cash. The timing of it all was just shite from a management & administrative perspective.

He was fricking another employee at the university. The “rumor” was started by Derek Mason who was fired by Harsin. The university is required to investigate it. I don’t know what else there is to say. He wasn’t fired for cause so again what’s the point at this time.

Dude… stfu.

Mason left on his own, and did an exit interview… some information came to light in that interview that led to an internal investigation by the university. Whatever was uncovered wasn’t substantial enough to require punishment.

Those appear to be the facts… we can speculate on whether it was treatment of others or inappropriate relationship… regardless, there wasn’t enough there to reprimand.

Lost games, ran Heisman Finalist and Auburn Legacy Bo Nix and other players off, he was total jerk to fans, players, coaches, boosters, etc.

He didn't believe in building relationships with the top high school's that pump out the top talent. Wouldn't leave campus to visit some of the Bham schools (Thompson) or Montgomery (Carver/Catholic) or Mobile schools, etc.

He didn't care to meet or build a relationship with Auburn's biggest donors (Rane/Harbert), etc.

He didn't embrace NIL and didn't have the vision to see what it would become relative to the SEC competition he had to compete against.

The rumored treatment of his staff, players or support staff points to an egotistical man who gave very little effort to understand the life, family or culture of his team.

He was known as a dickhead at BSU. Arrogant and a douche. Auburn didn't do enough research before hiring him.

That's all on Alan Greene. Dr Gogue didn't want to get involved with athletics and left it up to Green to hire the HC. Greene took it upon himself to hire hasbeen and apparently, didn't bother to take any advise from anyone.

Greene barely saw his office post covid. We had the general running affairs and the AD clulessly running ceremonial events.

That is certainly no way to run a cult.

And Bobo had to drag him to recruiting events. I mean honestly, he was the worst head coach in Auburn history.
