Some recruiting news. I haven't been able to confirm this with more than 1 person, but I've heard Trooper is officially done on the recruiting trail. He's not allowed to go on the road. The NCAA is all over him. Has he been going out to games, etc, AU fans?

I heard from an AU guy here in BR last week that Trooper's egg-timer had already gone off in that department.

So if not Petrino or fisher, who would be acceptable? Who has done great things and would be willing to come to Auburn? They would both be GREAT hires, personally I want Charlie Strong, but doubt he gets interviewed until the other two tell us no. Malzahn is the fall back choice.

If that happens either hell has frozen over or pigs can fly.

so they can make up for some of that 7.5 mill

Why do we need to make up for this? It is cheaper to fire Chizik than it is to keep him.

lol at wanting Jimbo over Petrino. Can't even win the fricking ACC.

Won the ACC A his first year...will win the Conf this year.

And he beat UFs arse last year...you Gators should want him at AU. Then you'd only have to lose to him every 12 years.

Jimbo Fisher is their top candidate.

He might be candidate on the auburn side but he is crazy to take a step down from the Florida State program to go to auburn.

I understand that. I'm not saying I think it would be wise of him to leave FSU. Hell, if I was in his position, I would stay. However, he likes AU a lot, so you never know what can happen.

Doesn't his son play for auburn? I wouldn't consider that "on the recruiting trail"

Jimbo Fisher is a year or two away from really having FSU back to where they were in the 90s. They are about to win the ACC and go to a BCS bowl this year. Why would he leave one of the top programs in the nation to go to Auburn?

We can do better than the non-scouting Malzahn. Plus with Malzahn it would be more of what we have now.

I don't think he has the same type of program going as FSU in the 90's. It's really solid, but not even close to that level.

Thanks for the info. This confirms some things I've been hearing from one of my Auburn friends as well.

I believe that's because Jimbo is a Top 15 coach and not a Top 5 coach.
