We’re not.

As you said, it’s incredibly infectious. The measures being taken are to keep everyone from getting it at once. The fact is, most people are probably going to get it at some point. If it can be staggered out, it’s not that big of a deal to most people. But if it runs rampant and overwhelms an already poor healthcare system, it can become a huge problem.

It’s not what you think it’s going to be. This isn’t chicken pox. You don’t just get it then you’re done with it.

False. They do work very well, but they are not stand alone preventative measures. Distance, cleanings common touch points regularly, avoid touching face before washing your hands etc.

You can't wear a mask and continue to grab candies out of the community bowl and blame the masks for not working.

By most accounts after infection you have a matter of months before reinfection is on the table, so for the sake of having the season this isn’t all bad news because you can have a sort of “effective herd immunity”

Update; Hearing from parents, and from current students that they may be about to sent home anytime. It’s a race between bama and Auburn on who quits first.

You need to add a degree in Immunology. This virus isn’t reversing a million years of human evolution.

Schools knew they would have an initial spike in cases when students returned to campus. That’s why they pushed the season start date back.. to account for the initial surge

More than anything else, exchanges like this make me worry about the chances of finishing the season.

Hold up! Is there still a vent shortage? Doctors & Nursing shortage? Has the US caught up on the mask shortage?

I've heard the same thing, TutHill. I've got two kids at AU, and given how rapidly it is spreading they have now resolved themselves to the fact that they are going to catch it. My hope is that Auburn goes online in a week or so (mainly to keep the teachers safe) and let's this sucker run its course through the student population, and reopens live classes in a month.

It is scary how quickly this disease is running through the student population. Praying that it just ends up being like a bad flu bug for them and results in zero deaths. Same prayer for all our campuses.
