The coach isn't the problem with AU right now. Even if Clark agreed to not having control, AU will still be the same and lead him to failure.
AU needs to hit rock bottom with back to back losing seasons under Steele. Once this happens maybe the powers will be willing to give control to a replacement and a good coach can be hired. The total rebuild can then start.

I would say... keep Steele as interim for as long as necessary to find the right fit. I think he'd do it

I like Clark, but he would be smart to decline any offer. No way they will offer him more control they offered Napier. Maybe less.
