I'd argue that Kessler was as much, if not more, integral to our success. He was almost a guaranteed double/double, with a few triple doubles thrown in there. His defensive presence under the basket was huge for us last year. He basically stopped 10 points a game from being scored on blocks alone.

Jabari Smith was integral to their team last year without him they would have been pretty average. They dont have star go to player this year.
So was Kessler.

The guard issues and inability to shoot the ball will kill us all year. That won't go away. If we average above 25% from 3 as a team, i'll be shocked.

We have replaced Kessler's blocks, we have not replaced Jabari's ability to score. It would be a borderline miracle for this team to make the tournament.

Who’s better?
No doubt Roberts is a good player.
But Wallace and Wheeler dominate the league in assists thanks to Oscar. Wallace is second in steals.
Zeigler and Vescovi combined are better.
Black and Smith probably without the injury.
Hell, you could even make a case for Sears and Bradley right now, even with Burnett sidelined. Sears has as many PPG as Roberts, and that factors in Miller leading the conference in scoring.

quote:As crazy as this is to say, our ranking is way higher than how good we actually are. We've been getting a "usually good team" bump but if you watched any of our games we are hair pullingly bad at scoring.
What would that mean for the conference foe that beat them?
In other words don't expect any bump from beating us

Robert’s is 2nd in the SEC in assists and 5th in steals

I notice you didn’t even mention Oquendo, who was #2 in the SEC in conference PPG last year
quote:
Sears has as many PPG as Roberts
No he doesn’t
Roberts and Oquendo
PPG- 29.5
RPG- 7.5
APG- 4.8
SPG- 2.3
BPG- 0.9
FG%- 43%
Vescovi & Ziegler
PPG- 23.5
RPG- 7.3
APG- 7.1
SPG- 4.7
BPG- 0.4
FG%- 38%
Wallace and Wheeler
PPG- 22.0
RPG- 6.2
APG- 10.7
SPG- 3.2
BPG- 0.5
FG%- 46%
Sears & Bradley
PPG- 23.7
RPG- 6.8
APG- 6.5
SPG- 1.4
BPG- 0.1
FG%- 44%
So of the 4 duos, Roberts and Oquendo lead in PPG (by a lot), rebounds per game, and blocks per game. They definitely have the least assists, but that’s due to them being the top scoring options.
I’m not sure how anyone can look at it and say they don’t even belong in the conversation like you insinuated.

He's tied for second (with Wallace), and Wheeler has 60% more.

Sears 14.6
Roberts 15.0
You're arguing over 0.4 PPG?

Are we going to have to rehash Georgia's SOS again?

I think Roberts and Oquendo have a lot better numbers than you realized when you made that statement and you’re struggling to admit you were wrong.
Dude. They actually have better numbers against good competition.
It really seems like you’re just throwing stuff out there.
I mean, they just dropped 43 combined on Auburn, who supposedly has a good defense.

Where did you go Waspy? I was looking forward to a good debate

Vescovi and Zeigler play in an elite defense. Idgaf if they are the top in ppg. We are going to hold most SEC teams under 60.
Wallace and Wheeler are definitely better as well.

What the frick has Tennessee basketball done that’s much more impressive?
At least when we laugh at y’all for your football failures, it’s well grounded in the fact that Tennessee hasn’t won a natty in 25 years while UGA is about to win back to back
The Vols haven’t won the east since 2007 while the Dawgs have won it 5 out of the last 6 years.
Tennessee basketball has done jack shite , better than UGA basketball? Sure.
But when’s the last time y’all made a final four? Much less won a basketball natty?
Tennessee athletics is pathetic, just like their fans. Especially you.

Tennessee mens basketball has made as many final four appearances as Tennessee football has produced Heisman winners
