Auburn Ranked 85th

quote:

Auburn’s athletic director, Jay Jacobs, declined to comment. The Tigers’ second-year football coach, Gene Chizik, said of his team’s academic performance and support, “We do a great job, so we’re not concerned with that.” When pressed on the issue of graduating black players, Chizik said, “Those are circumstances; there’s all kinds of different things.”

Not sure there is any SEC team that can complain too loudly. It does suck though. The original sin at Auburn was declaring the players were Sociology majors when they never attended a Sociology class. That's absurd.

But then do any of us fans truly believe in the student/athlete anymore? It's becoming a joke.

Hopefully the 85th ranking was the fall out from the Sociology scandal combined with a coaching change. The rankings lag significantly behind what is actually taking place at the school, so I will wait and see how the numbers look in a few years after the new staff and adminstration has been in charge for a substantial time. Also, the AD has to put an emphasis on reducing the disparity in white and black graduation rates.

100% graduation rate for whites.

49% graduate rate for african americans.

Greatest racial disparity among ALL the teams playing in ANY bowl this year.

I bet the Fambly doesn't want mamas knowing about that one.

I'm pretty sure the poor ranking is due to the awful attrition under Tuberville.

Only two spots below Michigan. Surprised he didn't mention Ole Mrs and Bacon's APR's.

True, but you also have to realize that (at least by my reading) the graduation rates quoted were for across the board in the athletic department, and not just in football. Not only did Auburn lose a ton of kids from the football program due to grades, etc. the basketball team was hemoraging kids as well.

Also, and I hate how this sounds, but if there were more white student athletes in sports that lead to a professional future you would see that % drop. But when you are at Auburn on a gymnastics, tennis, swimming, softball or golf scholarship you aren't going to leave after your junior or RSsoph year to go play pro whatever - you stay and get your degree and get your education for free due to the scholly.

Let me guess, ATPB is your source. BTW, who cares how many Sociology classes he takes?

At most universities it doesn't, but Auburn on the other hand...

I have never seen so much jock strap sniffing in my life. Are you ATPB'ers going to try to sleep with him next so you can say he is gay?
